I love this printer, the setup wizard is very easy and simple. Touch screen is excellent and the printer will automatically come into wireless network while finishing setup.

My Epson Opinion

This is my 3rd. Epson printer. The quality of printing photos is the very best. I would not purchase any other printer. Epson print quality is sharp and clean. They are way above any other printer I have used in the past. Their tech support is friendly and helpful. I couldn't get my printer on-line and called the tech support. Mike was very helpful and got me on-line and walked me through the process with the utmost courtesy. I got it to print and it was so quick compared to my last printer. I love this printer because I don't have to get up and drag my computer to my older Epson. I am excited that I have the fax capability on this printer as well. I highly recommend Epson for a great printer.

Great as Advertized

Just purchased the Workforce 840. Installation was very easy and the printing is super fast. Software installation on three laptops took a little time but nothing to complain about.
Dual-sided printing is a super plus.

This printer is by far the best one I have ever owned! I have had soooo many printers.. this one does it all .. and is truly a workhorse.. I was so glad for the other reviews that reviewed this one highly.. which is why I purchased it.. some reviews said it is noisy.. no way! I don't know how much quieter a printer can be... for all that this one does.. so very easy to use as well!

Easy to unpack; fast set up using wireless LAN.
Software is clear and concise, confirms every step, so you won't have to go back and do over.
Footprint is small so it uses less deskspace. LED screen powers down when not used (saves $$).
Wish they offered in in colors besides black so it would blend in a bit..but all in all, nice clear photo printing..crisp scans, and dry photo printing!
You'd think with all our technology we could make printers quieter, tho, wouldn't you?

Paper Handling
on May 27, 2011

The reviews are very good so I won't repeat the love...here is something to consider: Paper handling is awkward. No manual feed - A major negative for me. What if you have letter in one tray and legal in the other and you want to print one envelope...no manual feed so you have to unload a tray and insert one or more envelopes...not very effecient for an AIO. The paper trays seem like they will break with heavy use - just a bit flimsy.

WorkForce 840 Review
on May 30, 2011

I just installed the software, so it's a bit early for a full review. But here are a few annoyances I've already discovered (the hard way).
1. During wireless installation, there is no prompt to interrupt installation, open router software and enter MAC address, then continue. So, unless you know in advance to do this, installation fails.
2. Attempt to write (this) review at end of installation froze system (PC/Windows 7). Ctrl-Alt-Delete did nothing and it was necessary to do a power off/power on again to resume operation.
3. Printer set itself as the default printer, without asking. No big deal, but user should be allowed to choose this option.
4. Wireless printing fails with "out of paper or paper jam" if there is no paper in cassette 1. Software appantly ignores printer's own "use cassette 2" setup, and will only print if paper is loaded in cassette 1.
5. Printed User Guide (p. 1) states "For cassette 2, remove the clear plastic cover before loading paper." And then what? Toss it? Put it back after loading?
