After much review, comparison shopping - Found the 840Workforce to be the best value in its class. I owed an Epson printer some time ago and glad I'm back. Home office use primarily so size, speed, economy were big factors in decision. Out of the box, very simple to install and be up and running! Have not yet tried to do the wireless hook-up but expect no problems!

Sometimes the littlest thing can set you off. The bone I need to pick with Epson is the "heavy" size of a scan in pdf. I need at least a 150dpi scan, and all of a sudden my 5 page doc is 13Mb. On my previous Epson 8500 I could get 5 pgs for 400kb. Is there a setting they aren't telling us about? I endorse and recommend this all-in-one, but if you scan many documents, then you might want to reconsider.

Love this machine. Upgraded to this and could not be happier. Love that it takes a whole ream of paper inside , copies both side , and the instructions and set up were easy and simple to follow.

It was easy to set up, even for a newbie like me. I haven't used the fax yet; but the scanning, copying, and printing functions are smooth, quick, quiet, and look great. I like that I can keep lots of paper in it w/o jamming. I've always used another popular brand and I never knew it could be so wonderful & w/o problems. I researched the cartridge prices and Epson is the best price, plus there are 4 separate ones. I recommend this to any Newbie. Buy This!!!!

Good printer except it lacks the ability to print via AirPrint, which is a major deficiency for an all Mac household.

The WorkForce 840 sells as an All-in-one printer. My major requirements are printing quality & volume, & scanning. The printer does a good job printing, quality is good. However, there is a design flaw with the output. The prints are delivered to a shallow output platform in front of the printer. You can load lots of sheets of paper in 2 trays, underneath. Wouldn't it make sense to create a LARGE output tray to collect a large print job? Many of the printed sheets fall to the floor. I typically run 20 to 30 sheets of text/graphics at a time. Being able to print in mass quantities was one of the features that drew me to this printer. Second concern is the scanning feature. Not user-friendly at all. Epson recommends using "image-editing" software, like Preview on a Mac. However, this software is ancient & offers very little in editing features. I am returning the printer to the store, & searching for a printer that meets my requirements better.

Connected the Epson WorkForce 840 to an iMac. Using the easy-to-follow install instructions provided, 1) Installed the computer software, and 2) Set up the Epson 840 printer on my existing wireless network by using only the 840 touch screen. Both sides of the install went without a hitch. My system was back up within minutes. And my desk had less cable clutter.
Operation Pros: Compared to my previous printer, the pages fly out of the 840. It..is..fast. The print quality rivals laser printer output. And the dual paper cassettes are a welcome feature that eliminates busy work.
Operation Cons: It puts out more noise than I would like, but I have not found the printer that does not.
Time will tell. Having purchased the Epson WorkForce 840 only a couple months ago, I have not used all its features. In addition, I cannot comment on its reliability or longevity or on Epson customer service. Also understand that a printer/copier/scanner/fax, for me, is a lightly used peripheral. With those qualifiers, I can say that I am very pleased with this machine and I have hopes that it, like my prior printer, will last 8 years.
