Did a lot of research on this unit and decided to purchase based on overall excellent reviews. Software installation for wireless network took some time but was successful. Duplexing worked flawlessly and printer worked well for about 3 months, then major quality issues. Every print has significant banding and color dropout. Even black text looks muted. Followed trouble shooting guide and made countless attempts to correct through nozzle alignment, print head cleaning and calibration procedures to no avail. Even replaced full Epson ink cartridges with new ones. Lastly, there is creaking noise that sounds like a rusty spring on a screen door whenever the machine is running through its print routine. I spoke with an Epson service rep who was very pleasant and confirmed that, based on the problem description and the steps taken, the unit appears to be defective. Also confirmed with him that the unit in not serviceable (this is also stated in the back of the manual). So if the print head is bad, the entire printer is toast. Overall, I am really disappointed with the unit. I understand that lemons happen, but it seems like products today are overly complex yet under performing, to say nothing of product life cycle (I hope they at least recycle this one). I will update this post after receiving the replacement unit and hope that Epson can turn this into a winner based on the new printer and their customer service!!

Having finally replaced my trusted Photosmart , I decided to try this Epson . OMG - the scanner is the pits . If you are getting this machine to scan anything with depth , look elsewhere . Tried to scan the marks on a spoon and failed miserably . For quick printing it is fine - as a scanner . Capital N capital O

I just got printer to replace my epson stylus cx9400fax the support for old printer is differcult to get even from epson but also paper loading for old is a real problem, to impossible, seems wife can only load the stylus printer hoping the front trays loading will be easier. Other then just downloading drivers which was confussing there is nothing else I can say right now. wife will be taking stylus to her store she has no problem with it. the workforce 840 looks like it will handel all of our functions we need. in two months I can tell you how it works but not at time of installation

I purchased this printer because I was told it printed documents from my IPAD. I does not print documents. It will print photos. It prints from the desk top computer beautifully and quickly.
Does not meet my reason for purchase.
Very good value for the price.

When I got the printer I was very excited. Until...the driver install. I had everything working after an hour or so of babysitting the install then it checked for updates... After saying yes to the installers to update it gave me an error... Now I am back to the start.
