We remodeled our entire kitchen about 10 years ago and bought all new appliances under one brand. The brand has been a disaster. When we had repairmen out, which was often, I would ask them which brand, other than theirs, they would recommend and it was almost unanimous Whirlpool. I was sold.

Not Happy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This item took almost a month to receive after ordering. Once received, it was opened and I found the door was damaged with a crease. Immediately Whirlpool was contacted - I was told it would take an additional 3 weeks for a replacement door. It has been almost three weeks and I still have no eta from a customer service rep. In conclusion, i should have stayed with ULine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This ice maker has been everything we've wanted. It makes perfect ice cubes. The features on it are easy to use. Thank you Whirlpool for making a perfect ice making appliance for our home.

Wonderful, clear ice, but noisy.

We replaced a U-Line ice maker in our wet bar during a recent major kitchen remodel. We researched lots of ice makers in an effort to find clean, CLEAR, ice cubes. Although it is difficult to actually see an ice maker RUNNING at a store, we are very please with the quality of the cubes from this ice maker. It also makes a lot of ice quickly. Some other positives are that we were able to reverse the door, the ice scoop with a storage spot is handy, and the inside light is a nice plus!The negatives would be: 1. very noisy at times, which is somewhat annoying since our wet bar is in our family room. 2. the cubes are on the small side so they melt more quickly but the clearness of ice makes up for this downfall. 3. you need to be sure to have a place to drain this unit (which we already had in place) as the excess unused ice production melts. This makes 50 lbs./day but only stores 25 lbs. Overall, we are very pleased with the ice maker, including its appearance, but only gave it 4 stars due to the noisiness (which is tolerable but noticeable).
