[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was excited to have my first ice maker for a new bar area I installed. I have been a bit disappointed by ice quality. The cubes are small, approximately 3/8 inch thick, and soft. They melt very quickly when used to make drinks, making beverage quality quite watery. I still find myself going to the freezer for larger ice cubes for making drinks. Frustrating.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Whirlpool 15 inch ice maker is very efficient.

This ice maker has been a terrible purchase. We built a new home, moved in December 1st, it's been worked on 3 times as of today and it has just quit making ice again as of today. Not to mention when it is running and working how it sounds like a jet coming in for landing. Do NOT recommend.

Beautiful clear ice

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Replaced a 15 year old ice maker with the same brand. Ice production had become a problem with the old one. Opened the door after 24 hours of operation, to find the bin FULL. We love the addition of a light inside the bin. Great product.

Bought this as a replacement for the identical model that was 8 or 9 years old and needed an expensive repair, pretty much the same as all our other appliances installed at the same time. So I've been disappointed that this and our other appliances didn't last longer--that's apparently the way it is.Since we had never used the fridge ice maker because we had this one, we used the fridge for about 6 months and then THAT ice maker broke, too. By that time I was really readyto go back to having nice, clean, clear ice like this model makes. Once you get used to clear ice, it's pretty hard to go back to using a fridge.This one has several improvements over the older model. The first thing I noticed is that it has a built in filter. Since we're supplying filtered water already because the previous model didn't have it, we hope the filter will last a lot longer.The most noticeable change, however, is that this one is brightly lit with LED bulbs inside. It doesn't improve the already excellent ice, but it sure looks great!I like the size cubes that this makes, which is why I chose it in the first place--if you want larger cubes that don't melt quite as fast, say for whiskey, you might look elsewhere. These cubes are excellent for sparkling water, ice tea, sodas, etc. Highly recommended.

We built a home and this is one of the appliances we installed. It makes plenty of ice and the ice has a nice texture however it literally keep's my husband awake at night. It is really loud.Sounds like a jet ready for take off!
