Should I buy again?

We have owned two of these waffle maker/grills over our 42 years of marriage and have been pleased. Except for the sticking onto the waffle plate after a few years of use. I guess it is time to replace this appliance, but I'm not sure the new one will work any better since the reviews show this sticking is still a problem. I like the size and the features and the fold -up design, but if a new one is going to stick, then maybe I should choose another brand. Any help?

A good waffle maker, but loses non-stick

I bought my first one years ago, and the non-stick wore off pretty quickly. I was still able to use it with a lot of work. I finally got another one for Father's Day. It is working great, but I would like to be able to purchase additional plates for my original. I would like to run both when making my waffles. I clicked on the "parts" link, but it took me to a powertools servicenet place. Where can I get replacement plates?

Top plate falls off immediately.

Top plate does not stay on when you lift the cover up once it heats up. It just falls off. I haven’t even used it yet. I’m extremely disappointed in this product. My mom had the black and decker waffle maker that was from the early 90’s and it lasted 30 years. It was great. Thick cast iron plates, made perfect crispy waffles. This one came with melted plastic handles and falls apart as soon as you open it. You need oven mitts to hold it together. I’m very disappointed. I just want crispy waffles again. I’d return this one again (the last one was rusty out of the box) but I don’t have the box anymore because I stupidly assumed it would work. I’m trying to attach a video but it’s not letting me.

Bend the spring clamps to keep the plates in place

I had one of these for 30 years, but the waffles started sticking to the plates and I couldn't get replacements - so I bought this one (identical to my 30 year old). As others have noted, the plates are loose or fall off when the appliance heats up, which is not only inconvenient, but also a burn hazard. I was able to fix the problem by bending the spring clamps that hold the plate in so that the plates stay tight when heated. Otherwise, it works just like my original waffle iron. B&D needs to fix the spring clamp issue. Otherwise, I am happy with the product.
