Not plug n play

A lot of money to spend for a scanner that I can't get to run. Windows 7 op sys. Could be driver issues but still working on a fix. Instructions followed to a t but so far the only message i receive when turning on is scanner can't communicate with computer. Everythings plugged in the right holes. Big mistake buying this on a recommendation from another who owns one.

This scanner is still top of the line, but... it is listed since the end of 2006? Almost 5 years? Will there be a new top of the line flatbed scanner in 2011? Incl. USB 3.0?

I scanned 2000 family slides - good quality. Quality is good. Need to protect it from dust.

won't work

new epson 700 scanner out of box will not scan x-rays. I cannot use it because it does not work. I cannot return it and I would not recommend that anyone else buy one!!!

We bought this in July, and would love to tell you how wonderful it is, but because of software and connection issues, we haven't been able to use it yet. Had I known set up would be so frustrating, I never would have bought it. I consider myself to be very tech savey, so be wary.

Capable and Versatile

Bulk scanning slides, prints and inherited old and larger format negatives to form a digital archive, to then manipulate in various imaging programs to output as prints, graphics in newsletters, other digital publications and hard-copy versions is my main use. The 700 series is a necessary 21st century addition to my Fine Arts painting studio.
I would recommend this to a friend!

will not start

When I press the start button the V700 makes a series of ratcheting sounds then the start button flashes red. I turn it off. if it would turn on I would know if it works. Until then it remains an inert and beautiful hunk of equipment taking up a sizable portion of my work space.
