1. The V750 arrived yesterday, was easy to assemble, and was working flawlessly and reliable for over 500 scans of photos that very 1st day.
2. Obtaining the current software for my Mac OS X 10.6 was a bit tricky, since the current software did not come with the unit, & could not find it easily on the internet, and thus had to go Epson's website and work through Epson's rather clumsy prompts. Once installed, then I had to go to Apple support to get the latest Apple update for the Epson.
3. There was no User's Guide included with the unit, and I have to resort to Epson's website. Once there, the User's Guide is NOT very user friendly.
4. It is difficult to fathom how to use the film holders and height adjusters, as NO INSTRUCTIONS came with the unit, and the User's Guide at the Epson website is not very user friendly.
5. You would expect that an expensive unit, such as the V750-M, would come with a printed User's Guide. But that is not the case. Please note Epson, there is room for improvement here!
6. The installation sheet that came with the unit was merely adequate, and should have included information on the assembly of the film holders.
7. However, the above critiques do not derogate from the fact that I find the V750-M a first class piece of equipment: it is fast, ever so fast, and produces high quality images even when using "auto".

V750 Pro

I have been using this scanner for the better part of 2 years and scanned over 10,000 pictures and slides. The V750 does as advertised. However, I do have some issues. First the slide tray adapter uses plastic clips to hold the slides in place. If you are not very gentle when removing the slides, you can break the retaining clip very easily, rendering the slide holder useless. Also, I found that after about 7,000 scans, the quality of the captured slide/picture appears to be blurry and for one reason or another, the inside of the glass becomes hazy. I have cleaned the scan surface several times to no-avail. As a last thought, the V750 Pro is a little noisy.

Great little scanner

This scanner has proved to be a great addition to our large format print shop. We can now scan film negatives and slides at high enough resolutions to be able to blow them up without ending up with a pixelated mess. It also does a great job of scanning photos. My only complaint so far is a flaw in the scan program. When scanning negatives using the holder, I discovered that it uses a preset size and that is it. The problem is that it cut off part of the photos so I ended up laying some of the negatives directly on the glass and had to manually select the area for each photo that I wanted.

Epson Scanner is Perfection

I purchased this scanner at the suggestion of several friends who are professional photographers. This is the one everyone of them recommended. I do love it. I came with an outdated version of Elements 10— Elements is now on Version 12. I also had to call Epson to order a new driver since my iMac was new and the scanner did not recognize it. Epson people were very helpful and I downloaded the new driver. They walked me through to ;make certain everything was working correctly. I am delighted with the service and the scanner. I see now why it is the go-to scanner for the photography world. I do love it!

I must congrats Epson to introduce a truly professional scanner. I have used for scanning colour transparencies, colours negatives and reflection copies. I found much better sharpe ness with oil mounted transparencies and negatives, rather better than most expensive drum scanners. Colour appears very near to original exposure with epson software. There is no picture noise at all even from negatives. I am useing it for large photo prints as well as for offset and digital printing inputs.

Best scanner ever

I have been working with older versions of Epson's flat bed film scanners at my previous job for the past six and a half years, now that I am starting my own business I wanted the best, and this scanner is worlds better. I shoot mostly 50 ISO transparency film and the quality of the scan is spot on, only a cibachrome would be better!

I just installed this scanner and had some trouble getting it to work. I finally called the "help" line and now I can use it. The scanner does a beautiful job in restoring old photos and slides. My only complaint is that I really wish they had a written manual that came with it instead of having to call for help or try to find it online.

Incredible quality and fast scans at 3200 dpi
on May 19, 2010

After much research and some concern about potential quality of a flatbed scanner for film scans, I went ahead and purchased the 750 M Pro. And am I ever glad I did.
This is an incredibly good scanner. So far I've scanned 3,536 negatives and I'm very pleased with the quality and speed of the scans. I'm using the Epson scan SW, since I could never get the Silverfast to produce quality scans for some reason. I have all features turned off as I do all my adjustments in Photoshop CS4. I found 3200 DPI to be a good compromise between speed and a nearly noiseless image when enlarged. Using the film strip holder, and loading 6 strips of 4 negatives each, the scanner completes the batch in just under 15 minutes, which is far quicker than I can keep up on the adjustment end. BTW, after all the whining about the film strip holder, I was concerned it would be too flimsy. It is easy to use, holds the film tightly and I cannot imagine how people are breaking them. I have not used any of the other holders that came with the scanner and do not plan to do "wet scans".
Overall, the color quality is exceptionally good and require minimal color adjustments in PS. I usually make other adjustments such as exposure, contrast, clarity, tone curve adjustments, etc. but consider this to be a normal activity I do even from shots from my Canon 5D MKII digital camera, although I am not saying the scans match the MKII. But still they are very good. Sometimes the color balance is off, but usually when a shot was underexposed or taken in poor light, etc. When the light is right, I cannot believe how sharp the scans are and how colors pop. I was not expecting this high a quality on negative scans frankly.
I have no complaints at all about the scanner and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to complete a high volume of scans. The V750 is certainly up to the task and I think a good value for the money. My only issue is with the Silverfast SW, which I could never get to perform satisfactorily on negatives. But since the Epson SW does a great job and is extreemly easy to use, I really don't care.
