Samsung Galaxy Infuse - A Disappointment on Specs
on May 17, 2011

I was hoping for a 4G Phone from Samsung, without the lags (as in Samsung Galaxy Captivate), an enriched Android experience (with Android 2.3), and a configuration to provide maximum functionality. SAMSUNG FAILED ON THESE COUNTS.
But, is it intentional?
Samsung released earlier in 2011 a sister phone to the Samsung Galaxy Infuse called the Samsung Galaxy S2. This phone is released in Asia and Europe but it embodies most of the functionality to provide you with a unique experience and functional excellence. However, though the version we received in the USA is the latest, it is much more inferior to the Asian and European version.
The Asian version (Samsung Galaxy S2) has the following distinctions:
- 1GB RAM, as opposed to the 512MG RAM for the Infuse.
- Processor is dual core for the S2, as opposed to single core for the Infuse.
- The S2 come pre-loaded with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), as opposed to Android 2.2 (Froyo) for the Infuse.
Well, one may suggest that the specifications for the device were worked out with the US carriers. However, same experience of providing the US market with lower-end devices (compared to the versions in Europe and Asia) occurred when the last generation of Samsung Galaxy devices (Galaxy S). Example is the Samsung Galaxy Captivate and its sister device in Europe and Asia..
Can anyone explain why Samsung is dumping lower grade specifications in the US Market? And the second slap on our faces is that we pay expensively for these devices as well. We are Americans and we should have at least devices of similar specifications!
Avoid this device. Check out other makers coming out later in the year!
My disappointments with the Samsung Galaxy Infuse:
- Single core processor (compared with the dual-core processor on the Samsung Galaxy S2 for Europe and Asia). Dual-core processor enhances speed and responsiveness on the device.
- 512 MB of RAM (compared with 1G of RAM on the Samsung Galaxy S2 for Europe and Asia).
- Not running on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) for a better Android experience. (Other makes of Android devices were already on Android 2.3 in year 2010.) Given Samsung’s and AT&T’s lack of responsiveness in updating their devices, owners will have a long and frustrating experience.
Recommendation: Wait for a better device later in the year or shop other brands!
Pros: front-facing camera., large screen size.
Cons: battery life, not a dual-core processor., ram less than 1 gb., not running android 2.3.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dont buy this phone if you care about voice calls

clearly this phone is for texting, browsing and the camera. This phone has 1 bar 90% of the places my husbands first generation iPhone has 4-5 bars, including our home Wi-Fi network. It drops calls constantly, can't hand off between cells. the battery is awful - can't make it through the day wiithout charging it. dont buy this phone if you care about voice calling or need to use all day without access to power.
Pros: camera/video quality, speaker, good for texting
Cons: battery life, voice calls
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

After being with the iPhone for 2 yrs. I finally decided to try something different. I don't regret it one bit. I love the huge screen & no matter what anyone says pretty much user friendly. Also ALOT different from the iPhone. When I first put my Infuse to use I thought 'I don't know how long Im going to stick with this' simply because I don't care for change, I just gave it a shot anyway. The ONLY thing that I don't care for when it comes down to the Infuse is how little the keys are. Im usually a pretty fast texter & what Im used to is my phone auto-correcting the words that I misspell for me & the Infuse doesn't do that. But overall it's definitely something I can live with & something I would highly recommend to a friend or family member. I plan on sticking with this phone for awhile.
Pros: tools, menus, camera/video quality, speaker, battery life, Wi-Fi capable, durable
Cons: volume level, small keys

"FUN" phone. "GREAT" for work and "PLAY" !!!!!!!!

This phone is the greatest! I spend a lot of time, waiting. Waiting in line at the grocery store. Waiting for my Dr. appt. Waiting for all kinds of things. Even when I'm on another phone, I can do work, or play on this phone! Before I had to make half of my phone calls after I got home. With this one, I can make them during the day, and even tex. This phone is great for texing. Before I had to do all my e-mails after work and after I got home. Now, I'm done with them before I even get home. I have so much more time to either rest or play games or whatever!! I live in a totally different world now, and I love it!! It is worth every dime.
Pros: tools, menus, camera/video quality, speaker, battery life, Wi-Fi capable, durable, ease of use, good for texting

Great Phone! Everything is a variation on this

When I got this phone I was an android newbie.
After a week or so with it, I really love the ability to find apps for what I need. That kind of flexibility is fantastic! Social networks and e-mails are integrated nicely. It takes decent picturesThe screen is so crisp and clear. The phone is responsive and fast. Layout is adjustable except for the bottom 4 "primary" functions. Samsungs UI overlay is fluid. I wouldn't have known it had an overlay until my friend showed me his android operated tablet. The battery life lasts 2/3 of a day. I think using the wifi eats up battery life. I think with normal use, it would last until you plug it in when you get home at night. I plug my phone in when I get home every day so I may not experience a total drain except when out in the wilderness with no access to a plug. Overall I think this phone will please anyone who buys it.
Pros: menus, camera/video quality, Wi-Fi capable, ease of use, good for texting
Cons: battery life
I would recommend this to a friend!
