Enjoying the French style doors on top

Because of the location in our kitchen, we need a counter depth refrigerator. Counter depth appliances are more expensive. I would save money and buy a regular size if we could fit it in our kitchen.
We bought the cafe series GE counter depth to match our other GE appliances. I am really starting to enjoy the French doors. It seems to be easier to organize than our previous side by side refrigerator. We don't need to open both doors to get leftovers out or too often when cooking since it is organized to avoid it.
Being broader and deeper the freezer seems to be working out better for us too. I think the freezer is colder than the side by side version we had before.
I have used the hot water dispenser a few times and that is very handy because my microwave is not in the kitchen. It takes longer than a microwave to heat up gives you temperature options which makes it handier for getting warm versus hot water when cooking.
The only thing I would change is the wide meat/cheese/soda drawer. I would like it to be a separate drawer below the French doors instead of being inside them. As it is now, you have to open both doors to get the drawer open and I think that is a waste of energy.

Looks great, but loud!

We bought this fridge because it matched fairly well with a new Kitchenaid range we had bought, and because we needed a counter depth fridge. The looks of it are impressive; looks sort of industrial and professional, however, I have never had a fridge make so much noise. Seems like the compressor runs a lot. Sometimes for hours. Also, I am disappointed in the ice maker. It makes and stores very few cubes. I rarely if ever use the hot water dispenser. I mean, it takes almost 5 min to heat up; you can heat water much more quickly in the microwave or on the stove top.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great for daily use

It's been 6 months since we bought this refrigerator. The refrigerator motor made sounds during the first week, which went away after that. A great display and ice maker are the prominent features of this fridge. One bad thing about the fridge is the water spots that will remain on the stainless steel parts. I tried to wash them off with Vinegar but the stains wouldn't go.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Like the features and it is a beautiful refrigerator but I've already had a drawer replaced and now the display is glitching and I can't change any of the settings or use the hot water or the precise fill.

Loud unit, both compressor and fans in door. Should not have passed QA. Hot water is a plus but rarely used. Doors are thick so don't think you will get this flushed into an opening.

Nice refrig but....

Renovated kitchen - bought GE Cafe Nov 2014 - not too happy with it since ice gets stuck in the bin, constantly taking it out and removing clumped ice. Thought maybe since I didn't use ice in winter months but same issue during summer and I use ice on regular basis. The Loud Noise from the refrig is annoying - this started about 6 months after purchase. Noise stops when door is opened, but starts up again when closed. During the day, I will open and close door just to stop annoying sound. This was an expensive appliance and it doesn't live up to its name!

Great Fridge but 1 issue

Great fridge, awesome features, but if you overload the door shelves with too many jars they can crack and break. Also our ice maker went out and GE had to fix it for us. Other than that, great fridge with tons of high tech features!
