[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'll start with the exterior of the new counter dept French Door Cafe Refrigerator. It is great looking (leaving out the sides). It appears well built and solid. Moving it around on it's casters forward and back is very easy. It's so easy you need to remember once in place to lower it's feet. If not it can be moved opening a door.....The SS looks to be quality SS. For others like me. I have 5 year old Cafe gas range and microwave. To my eyes at least. The color of the SS on the new Refrigerator is slightly less brushed looking and slightly not as bright. I think it looks slightly better. It is hard to tell the difference so they match up well. Also if you want a red Cafe logo to match your other older Cafe appliances. Contact GE and send them your refrigerator S/N. They will mail you one out with instructions. The one thing I would have preferred is SS sides. The dark grey looks ok but SS would have made it a lot nicer looking and high end. At least make it an option for those of us wanting SS sides......
The Self close upper doors and lower freezer door work great. They appear solid and well built. No frost, condensation or dripping water from them. You will though most likely have to tweek the upper door alignment. Others might not notice looking at them but these things I do. GE gives you a template of .6 inch. I made myself a wood shim that made that job easier....
Next I'll go to the LCD screen. The picture feature is wonderful. If I have a knock on the screen the flowing water picture and as you toggle through the functions. It looks dull and boring. Also although it's a small thing, things like the time and date etc would have been useful if included. But the functions are easy to understand and hit.....
The hot water feature works as advertised. Same as precise fill. I just wish both were fully automatic and that auto fill that's on some GE Profile Refrigerators was also included....
The full width temperature control drawer seems to have very accurate temperatures for each item selected. The mulit color LED's are cool. You will find yourself going back and forth between colors just for fun. After a item like cheese is selected with its matching LED light color. After a few seconds it colored LED fades away to the normal white colored one. Same with opening the Refrigerator door. The full length drawer is lit with it's selected color then fades away. The Refrigerator upper and lower sections are both bright and well lit....
Storage bins and shelves are also well laid out. I like the glass shelves. The plastic ones though I wish were thicker. I don't intend to bust one and see what it would take to do that. But thinker ones would make me feel better.....
Turbo Freeze and chill work as advertised....
I have horrible tasting water. The water filter actually made my water taste good. There is also a reminder when to replace that and the odor filter....
I have had no problems with the ice maker. No jams or leeks. The crushed ice or cubes come out like they should......
The Refrigerator is also quiet ranging from dead silent to a humming type noise......
The overall temp of the freezer and refrigerator are also accurate.....
Lastly. About the ratings. There was no very good option. It just goes from good to excellent. So my appearance and value ratings would have been very good as would my overall rating. To me excellent is the best you can expect. I would have given excellent to appearance had SS sides been included. Excellent to value had SS sides and auto fill been included. Then overall would have been excellent. But I can recommend this Refrigerator to Cafe appliance owner's. Or to those just wanting a great looking , functional French door Refrigerator.......

Great refrigerator

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We ordered this refrigerator a month before it was released due to the space saving features and the hot water dispenser. We were thrilled when it finally arrived. It's sleek looking and has great organizational storage space inside.
The hot water dispenser feature is good but I find it takes a bit longer to heat the water than I had anticipated. It also only dispenses up to 10oz at a time before needed to press the hot water button again and waiting. Good thing is any subsequent hot water dispenses are a much shorter wait.
Overall we are very happy so far with the refrigerator.

Noisy, unreliable, and bad warranty

GE appliances have really gone downhill. I've had several GE Profile refrigerators in the past with no problems until this one. From day 1, this refrigerator is much louder than any other one I've had. The hot water feature is completely useless since it takes a really long time to heat up and only makes a very small cup of hot water. The second cup doesn't take as long but who wants to wait 20 minutes for 2 small cups of hot water? So we never end up using this feature at all.
Now, 1 year and 4 months after install, the freezer stopped working due to a faulty freezer fan and the GE technician says this isn't covered under the 5 year limited warranty for the sealed refrigeration system. According to the diagnostic tool the technician used, the refrigerator fan is about to die as well but due to a massive number of these failing, GE is replacing them free of charge but not officially calling it a recall. With all the known issues with the GE Cafe fans, you'd expect that the freezer fan would be covered as well but it isn't and will have to be repaired at my cost. How does that even make sense?
With the high cost of the GE Cafes, you'd think GE would stand behind their products and warranty. Instead, they've discontinued this model and have left their existing loyal customers holding the bag. Beware of buying any GE refrigerators unless you want it to break just after the 1-year warranty ends. They just don't make them like they used to.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Door hinge broken and water pooling at bottom of t

Not happy with this fridge. 3 yrs old and drawers broken hinge broken and water pooling at bottom of fridge. I have replaced the bottom pull out drawer twice the plastic is cracked.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fantastic Refrigerator

I bought this refrigerator about a month ago and my family and I love it! Not only does it look great in the kitchen, the interior offers so much for room. The lighting inside is better, the drawers visibility is better and the water and ice maker are great. I would definitely recommend this refrigerator.

Stylish with many features

Have had for a little over a month now and so far very pleased. I was hesitant to buy a counter depth but I am so glad I did. My kitchen looks larger now. Plenty of storage space and I love the lighting inside. First refrigerator I have had that has the bottom freezer, and I love it. The appearance is what sold me. Best looking SS refrigerator out there!

Hot Water Issue

Got this last month. Everything works great. Love the hot water dispenser. However, one day the hot water stopped working, with "hot water disabled" shown on the control panel. The technician came in and fixed it in 10 seconds. He hinted that pressing buttons on the panel in a certain sequence caused this, but refused to say what and how to reset this mode (job security, I guess). The manual says "make sure hot water disabled is not selected". Duh! Anyway, I'm happy that everything is working again.
