Versatile multi-mode appliance

Great Features

We love the quick cook option - Not just a microwave, it can do everything from toasting a bagel, to baking cookies. We no longer have use for a toaster oven, and is great for items that you dont need the whole range oven for.

Very happy, few unhappy points

We purchased this unit about 2 years ago. I've been very happy with it. Works well.
Few awkward features that I'm less than happy with:
1. We were surprised to discover the door handle is plastic with a GE Cafe wrapper. About 6 mo ago, the wrapper has started to peel. This is quality far below what I expect for Cafe series.
2. The door handle heats up from the GE Cafe gas range below it. This is something I've never noticed in an over the range microwave. One might consider this to be a feature.
3. It always ceases to amaze me at how long it takes for the microwave to heat a cup of warm tap water to boiling. Well above 3 minutes. 2-3 cups in glass measuring is well over 5 minutes. This is far slower than every other microwave I ever used, which typically boils water in 1.30 - 2 min. I use my tea kettle. It's quicker.

Frustrating Controls

The oven works fine, if you can figure out which button to push. The controls are very confusing. To me the digital features are overdone and you have to scroll through a menu just to do simple tasks. As a result we use the 30 second button almost exclusively which defeats the purpose of all of the fancy features. The analog looking dial on the front looks cheap. Why not use digital up and down keypads and an enter button? I hate the fact that the clock does not display constantly. Being wall mounted it is one of the most prominent appliances in the kitchen, yet the display is always blank. Ironically we have a GE Cafe series gas range that was installed at the same time and the clock display is always on. So why do the rules about energy consumption apply to one and not the other?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazing Product

We bought this microwave/oven by accident when we were looking for a microwave but it turned out to be one of best accidental shopping we ever made. It's easy to use, clean, quite, nice looking, and very high quality product. I am happy that for backing a cake or pizza I don't have to turn on our main oven anymore. It comes with most used presets and you can add your owns and save them as well. If you don't have a small oven and searching for a over the range microwave, I highly recommend this!

Cheap plastic handle

Overall the unit works as described - the handle is plastic and the heat from the oven damaged the handle

Has a lot of features

Has more features that our older Advantium oven. Our previous unit was over 12 years old and still working, but saw a newer one at a great price at the box store and decided that it was time to trade up. Love the new one better than the old one.
