Armor case appears to have the protection I need! Belt clip/holster is very poor quality!!! In use 2 weeks and clip broke, hopefully Otterbox will replace free of charge!
I do not mind the size of this case. The armor series is a bit bulkier than other Otterbox cases, but I still place my Iphone in my pocket of every pair of pants I wear. I drop my phone consistently, whether it be taking my device out of my pocket, knocking it off my desk, or just losing my grip, but the Otterbox Armor series stands up to all of the abuse my phone goes through. The downfall of the Armor series is the built-in screen protector - the design around the edges of my screen limit the functionality of my touch screen so it does not operate as well as other Otterbox (commuter, defender) series. That being said, I do appreciate how well the case keeps out all of the dog hair, dust, and debris in comparison to the other cases. I would still choose this case over any other cases I have purchased and used in the past.
Pros: High quality, Durable
Cons: screen protector interferes with touch screen, bulky (not for everyone)
this is a rugged, well designed case. I love the ease of installing and removing the phone from the case... its built like a touring road case...with sturdy quick release latches. That feature, however, comes at the cost of space....its big. For me at work or play... big and safe are good. If I'm hanging at home or dressing up and going out.... I just pop it out of that case and into a skin.
It does protect the iPhone. But the hole for the charger accepts only Apple lightning chargers. Others I tried are too big. I had to grind two of them down to get them to work, and destroyed one in the process.
(You can't enlarge the hole in the case because a waterproofing plug fits into it)
The protective housing increases the size and weight of the phone, whose main selling point was as a slim package you could easily fit in your pocket. Now it's nearly a paperback book.
Good quality, but it turns out I don't need this much.
In Montreal, snowy roads covered with ice, gravel and rock salt is not the best surface to drop a phone. This case has seen 5 bad drops in three weeks: one flight of stairs, one toilet and one simple carpet drop. All three were easily survived thanks to this case. I am almost tempted to try driving over it like the YouTube clip shows; I'll keep you guys posted if I muster the courage.
The case is beefy. Overbuilt even and it offers great protection. A friend even threw the phone across a bar and into a brick wall with no damage to the phone or case..
Unfortunately, the over built case leads to having issues with the buttons not easily accessible or functional. Switching the home button on has no feedback feel so you always end up pressing too long and Siri comes up. The Mute switch is a pain in to toggle and it's actually reversed too. and the screen cover has issues where it doesn't detect touch unless you press heavily. This is especially annoying when you try to swipe up or down from the edge of the screen to access the hidden menus. It's almost impossible to get the bottom menu to scroll up.
All in all, I would not recommend this case based on the issues of functionality.
works as advertised, which is great. would suggest to makers however , make the membrane near power cord insert thicker. If you are plugging in haphazardly it seems it could be punctured. I got the holster for the case,, the magnetic fasteners will hold but need some improving as they are easily knocked open if moving, lifting etc.. would like a better fastened clasp etc. If meant to be rugged it needs to stay shut.. But this is the best choice for protection and usability in case.
