Great case except for one thing, the access port to charge the phone is not compatible with after market chargers or the Apple Lightning to 30-pin Adapter

If you need a rugged case...

I would agree with most reviews... case is very bulky and there are some audio issues that I've had to resolve. Bottom line, unless you participate in activities that routinely put your phone at risk, the defender or commuter cases are awesome.
For those of us that frequently risk getting our phones wet, or participate in activities that tend to knock our phones about, then I think this case is worth considering. I wanted something that could stand up to my home renovation work, being dropped from ladders, setting the phone down in a pile of saw dust or mud, surviving a possible dunk in the pool, and weekend beach sand.
It is bulky and there is nothing you can do about it. However, for the audio I was able to resolve in call issues. The wall of rubber tubes that surround the microphones have a tendency to cover the microphone port if not inserted correctly. In order to hear the other party better, I enabled the "Hearing aids" feature on my phone. This seemed to boost the max in-call volume allowing me to hear better through the case window.
Only other issue I have is the "back button". The window covering the button is not flush to the glass on the phone. Therefore, I have to press rather than just touch.
Pros: High quality, Durable, outdoor abuse resistant
Cons: back touch button requires pressure

I dropped my iphone5 from about 35 feet. It hit a roof after about 15 feet then landed on a stone patio. The case chipped but the phone came thru unscathed. I was thrilled and that evening ordered a replacement. After that episode, I was sold. I told my 22 yr old daughter the story and she said " They're guaranteed. Go on line"

Well, my Otter Box saved my iPhone 5s while out mountain biking. I use my iPhone (and App) with my bike computer for tracking various parameters. Anyway, on one ride my phone managed to get thrown to the ground, and although the Otter Box front screen did puncture, the phone itself came away unscathed! When I reported the incident, the Customer Support team were terrific, they walked me through the steps for the warranty and within a week a new Box arrived at my doorstep! Hey, the 'Box' might cost more than some others, but it works as advertised, and the Customer Service is terrific - great value!

No sound into the microphone

I live in Australia and bought my Armor case within a week of the product being out. It cost a small fortune but after breaking and 'drowning' a couple of phones it seemed worth it. Everyone I came into contact with noticed the case and I spoke highly of it. I have no problem with the size considering the protection I get. BUT.... people can't hear me when I talk on the phone. I don't know why but it is getting worse. I have cleaned the case; no change. I have experimented with the phone in the case and out of the case on the same call. Completely different outcome - people can hear me when its not in the case and can't when it is in. I have taken to pulling open the cover over the charging port so people can hear me. I am writing this review in the hope someone at Otterbox can give me a solution. I like the case and I don't want to get rid of it but I'm getting close to abandoning the case because everytime I answer the phone to people who know me - their immediate statement is for me to get rid of the case..... Can you help Otterbox???

So I couldn't wait to get my hands on this case, I waited months for it to come out. I just got my iphone 5 and the case and put it on as soon as the iphone was out of the box (and I did the water test). While I love the design and protection this case offers, it gets a 4/5 rating because it is hard to hear the person on the other end during phone calls, and they also cannot hear me. I've had to resort to taking it out of the case for a few phone calls, and that is a bit of a peeve. Not sure if I'd recommend it, depends on the person. If you make phone calls a lot, this probably isn't the best case for you. Try another Otterbox case. Otherwise, I am very happy with this product. Is there any way to decrease the muffled affect?

I only bought this case because i wanted a waterproof case and went with otterbox over lifeproof because I love otterbox cases. They are always great quality and this one is no different! It is very big, actually huge compared to the phone by itself, but that doesnt affect me because i only wanted the case for when I'm around water, and it is completely waterproof! I have taken it in my pool with me taking videos and pictures and have even taken into the shower. It may be big and bulky, but it works for the purpose i bought it.
Pros: waterproof!
Cons: big bulky

Best Case I have ever owned!

I received my case yesterday and I have go to say that this case is stout. It was made very well and the construction on it is amazing. I have about four cases for my iPhone 5, and the Armor makes the fifth and by far it is the best case. The sound quality is excellent and people can hear you also. I would recommend this case to anyone who does construction or is outside constantly. It will protect against any weather! i will never own another case!
