Worth the extra few bucks

We had another Levana baby monitor for our first child and were very happy with it until our son dropped it in a glass of water. Now that we’re having a girl and do not want to go without a video monitor so we got this new one and it’s pretty awesome.
We got the two camera version as our boy is under 2 and having a camera in his room is still handy. He was sick when it arrived so having the camera in his room was very helpful. We could get things done without having to constantly check on him. We may get another camera for the basement play area too.
MONITOR
This is something that my wife was really high on. It doesn’t look like a baby monitor so we’re completely fine having it out in the open. The screen is pretty massive and all the little things are taken care of. There’s a kick stand and the antenna folds out, but we keep it folded in (didn’t change reception). The audio from the camera is a lot better than our previous monitor.

We can record videos and take pictures but I’m not sure if we’ll use it much. We’ll see. I may use it as a security system once we don’t need it anymore.
SCREEN
At first glance, I was a little disappointed, but then I realized that the screen settings were defaulted on the highest energy savings setting. When it’s on full brightness, the screen is awesome. I still prefer it on the energy savings mode though to save on battery life.

BATTERY LIFE
Our baby hasn’t been born yet, but we’ve just been using it on our 2yo. We’ve had it for about a week now and haven’t had to recharge it yet (after the first charge). Once we have the second camera in use then I’m sure we’ll drain it quicker.

RANGE
We don’t need the full range but I get perfect audio/video from everywhere in my house and in the front and backyard. Totally happy with reception though.

CAMERA
The cameras also look pretty neat and they kind of look like EVE from Wall-E. I thought that was kind of cool. Either way, it fits in our kids rooms. There are built-in lullabies that you can activate on the monitor and are played through the camera—we haven’t needed to use these yet, but will when new baby arrives. We had this in the previous monitor but, again, the sound is much better this time. NOTE – the manual didn’t indicate it, but you can control the volume of the lullabies using the monitor.

PAN & TILT
Initially this took a lot of headache out of mounting the camera on our wall. I just installed it at a good height and then pointed it using the pan/tilt. I had so much trouble with the other system’s camera trying to point it in the perfect angle and that was impossible. I haven’t caught my boy out of his bed yet, but I’m waiting for it.

INTERCOM THING
You can talk to your kids to “soothe” them. It sounded in theory, but I didn’t find it useful until they get older and start moving around. It always surprised my son when we would tell him to stop kicking his crib and now when he’s moving around in his bed.

I recommend downloading the full instructions too to get a handle of all the options.
Overall, the price is high, but you get what you pay for. It’s was well worth the extra money for us and we’d 100% buy it again.

I received this as a gift and so far the quality seems great. A little bit of feedback with the receiver, but that is only when the volume is up pretty high. All in all, I am super happy so far, that I chose this one over the million other choices out there.

I got this monitor last week and I love it since then, it was very easy to set up especially for a busy mom, didn't even have to read the manual for the basic features. I really like the size of the screen, great for grandparents as well.

Great monitor for child with special needs!

I bought this camera set for my daughter with special needs in order to track if she was having a seizure during the night. I love the features and that I can move the camera around if she is moving around without having to go in to her room to adjust it.

There are so many monitors to choose from so it can be overwhelming but I read the reviews and asked mothers and now I see why everyone recommends Levana! We bought the Ovia 4.3 and love how clear it is when you zoom in and pan the entire room! We can't wait to use this when our baby comes in 2 months!

Just got my Levana- Ovia Digital Video Baby Monitor in the mail and so far so good! The picture is really good. My only complaint is that it didn't come with a manual.
