Innovative Design and Great Features

I bought my Whirlpool Gold? ENERGY STAR? Qualified 26 cu. ft. French Door Bottom Mount Refrigerator last July shortly after moving into a new home. I love the space inside the refrigerator; the shelves on the door are perfect for everything including large milk containers or soda bottles. What is also nice is that the designers opted to give you storage on the left door where the ice maker is located. The freezer drawer with the pull out shelf is my favorite feature. There is plenty of room in the lower drawers for frozen food and the top rack can be used to chill glasses or other items. The unit performs well but the ice maker and fan can be noisy when they are cycling through. Overall a great product and good value for the money.

Great at first....

Loved this fridge at first, but after a while, the ice machine would get blocked occasionally, the freezer handle falls off, and WORST of all, the freezer seal seems to be poor quality. We have ice build up under the freezer and it leaks constantly from both sides under the freezer door. This isn't the 50's, I shouldn't have to de-ice my freezer and chip the ice away once a month.

I feel like I have much more space in this model than in my old Amana side-by-side one. The stainless can get dirty with smudges easily, so I need to be more careful and keep it clean.

The fridge is priced perfect, comfortable, spacious but the only thing that is not that great is the ice maker. The capacity load for ice is very little, which makes it hard for large families like mine. Otherwise I recommend it to anyone.

Won't automatically turn on after power outage

Model # GI6FARXXY06We were told by Whirlpool that the circuit board on our refrigerator is made so that it doesn't come back on automatically after a power outage. The refrigerator comes on after we unplug it and plug it back in. We were gone on vacation for 6 days and upon returning found that while we were gone there was a power outage on the day after we left and everything in the refrigerator was spoiled. It started right up the minute we unplugged it and plugged it back in. We lost about $800 worth of food. The odor is horrendous after cleaning even after putting boxes of baking soda inside. This has happened twice before. Does this mean that we can never go out of town for a few days without taking the risk of losing everything. We were told by your company that all refrigerator do this. My son has a Whirlpool refrigerator which he bought a few months ago and he said that he has had power outages and does not have to unplug and replug the refrigerator in order for it to operate. We are so Very Unsatisfied with your company and would never think of buying another Whirlpool appliance. We can't believe that we have to be home anytime there is a power outage so that we an unplug and plug the refrigerator back in so that it will operate. We have refrigerators in 2 other homes that we own and have never had this problem!! The people that we spoke to from your company didn't seem to care and told us that all refrigerators are like that which is a bunch of BULL.
