The phone cannot be updated unless you have a windows email address. I have never had one and have no intention of ever having one. Thus the phone is worthless to me. But even before this latest event, apps that work under every other system dont on windows phone. A truly piece of junk.

I want my money back, + compensation for the hours of my life I'll never get back for using this paper weight.

Any songs downloaded to the phone were added anywhere from 1 to 5 times per song. Half of the songs read error when attempted to play them. Songs that play just fine on my windows media player. My Ford SYNC, which is by Microsoft, won't even recognize it. The "super sensitive" screen is too sensitive and does things without even being touched. The battery takes forever to charge. So far I've spent several hours trying to get my music onto the phone, and have only accomplished to waste my time. There are close to no apps for this phone. There is no Amazon mp3 app for this phone. At this point I'm trying to get my money back, and if I cannot, I will still abandon this phone for something else. ANYTHING else! I could list more, but have already wasted enough of my time on this phone.
Pros: Personal, Business, do not buy this phone!

I find this phone frustrating and more limited in coverage than my old text/talk phone.

It was frustrating to spend hours and hours inputting an address book, carefully syncing it to the cloud with the AT&T address book app after each group of names inputted, and then having none of it download after resetting my phone. I get frequent dropped calls and poor coverage: I could not even call my house, 3 miles away, standing outside in a major downtown city!

Budget phone and it shows

I bought this phone for my wife as she didn't like the complexity of the Android phone. While the Live Tiles provide an easy to read display and the customizations are easy enough for her the Windows Store and the limitations of the Win 8 OS seriously have her reconsidering the Android. There are 4 major functions she wants in a phone and they are fairly basic.
1. Speech to text for SMS -> The recognition engine on this phone is sub-par compared to her old phone. She spends as much time correcting the bad recognition as she would have typing the whole message from scratch.
2. Phone: calls frequently contain a "loud ping" like a banjo string breaking. as well as an echo on my end. Speaker phone and other options (3way calling etc) are not easy to access.
3. Camera While theis phone touts a 5MP camera, the quality is worse than I have seen on old 3.2 MP cameras. The colors are severely washed out and the it has very poor low light performance.
4. Clock I know it sounds funny, but who still wears a watch? While the lock screen contains a clock and there is a super tiny one in the upper right corner (that our old eyes can't read). There is NO LIVE TILE from Nokia and there is no way of getting one without Nokia stepping up and writing one since Microsoft limited interactions between live tiles and the OS with only major manufacturers producing it. Sadly this is a simple task for a developer that can code his/her way out of a paper bag, but from my perspective the old Symbian Developers are not embracing this phony revolution Microsoft is hyping.
The selections in the Windows Store are poor. a mere fraction of what the other app stores have and the stuff they have for free are not free in the Windows Store if you can find a compatible one at all. If you must get a Windows Phone, get one from a better manufacturer where the developers work around this flawed OS to make a user friendly experience. My recommendation is to spend a few dollars more and skip the Windows OS all together.

This was our first smart phone. We do not require many of the bells and whistles, so we were trying to come in on the low end of the price range , learn what we are doing and move up if we needed to. I had read quite a few negative reviews about the phone but we felt we could give it a try because of the price. We created a quandry because we had just switched from Verizon to T - Mobile and we didn't know whether the dropped calls were the Lumina or the carrier. ITS THE LUMINA ! There are some positive things about the phone. Personally, I liked Windows format. It was quite a departure from our old phones but we had it "down" in a couple of days. The problems that I incurred were feed back or hearing myself when I spoke, sporatic ability to send text pictures and dropped calls. I like that I could text twenty contacts in a group at one time and yes, I am missing that because I did have to switch phones and I have no more telephone problems. It is very close to being a good deal but it is not. I would reccommend that you spend a little more and have less aggravation.
