I don’t like to take time to write reviews but this device and software took away all my frustration and wasted time. I tried several different ways to digitize my VHS and DV camera videos. Burn to DVD and copy to hard drive took forever. Connecting Firewire1 to FW2 on an external hard drive which had FW3 that could connect to an older Mac was pricey but worked. But then I used iMovie and Final Cut to import and I would have 100 files as small as 1 sec. for no reason and editing was a nightmare. The Elgato is USB and Super VHS just worked. It would make separate files for each date (I think that’s correct). Nevertheless the breaks were appropriate to changing scenes. It even connects to a thermal imaging monocular and records the video. This review is about 3-4 years overdue.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Simply atrocious

I purchased from a retailer Elgata video capture hardware. The instructions led me to this website so as to download the software. But this site is uninstructive. Most disappointing.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazing...when it works

I have had this capture device for over 10 years now, through both Macs and PCs, and I truly think it's a great product. The problem is recently I can only get it to work once in a while. I'll open up the app and be stuck on a "one moment please..." screen that will not go away. No matter how many times I open or close the app it continues to persist. Randomly, however, it will decide to bless me with capturing capabilities, and when it does it is a fantastic product. I have been using it to rip old home movies and the quality is fantastic. Although I do with they would update the software for it to better implement it into their other software. I have an HD60 as well that is a lot more user friendly and customizable.
Great product... but I wish it would work more often. If I still relied on it for business reasons it would be a 0/10.

Simple and quick way to archive my old tapes

Works great for my needs of digitizing VHS, Hi8, and Compact VHS tapes. Quality isn’t going to be high fidelity but if you’re looking for high fidelity capture, this is not for you. There are other more complex setups for that.
This is quick and simple for getting your tapes archived.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Driver installation under win11

Used it on a windows 10 computer and it worked great. I bought a new computer with windows 11 and I had to disable the memory integrity otherwise the diver would not install.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Does not work for Windows 11. I downloaded the program. it did not work. I did some research and found some plugins to install… I finally got the video working and not the audio part. I restarted the program and got the audio and not the video. I restarted the program again and nothing worked. I also could not get it to connect to OBS. I really like elgato products but they need to fix this one.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
