poor design of the covers for the silverware basket and cont

Major fault with design of silverware basket covers. They slip down when more than three utensils are used. Talked to Kitchenaid rep. and they said this is the way it was designed and nothing can be done. Also, controls are very touchy. Just brush against door and usually the "drain" button is activated.
Pros: easy to use, Performance
Cons: controls to easy to activate
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is the 1st dishwasher I have owned or regularly used; so that fact could be affecting my opinion. I love it! This appliance has simplified my life immensely. Very easy to use, cleans well, super quiet; even though I don't think it was considered 1 of the quietest on the market. Worth every penny! Looks nice to boot!

Quiet as a Church Mouse!!

I replaced my dishwasher as a part of a kitchen renovation. Originally had a GE Profile. The new Kitchenaid is much quieter. At times I have to see if it is actually running!!!! Also I like the design and extra room of the lower basket. The old unit had a water source tube that came up through the center of the lower basket thus dividing it and reducing space. We now have a fully lower basket. And the adjustable upper basket just adds to the convenience. Very Pleased with the unit.

Could the SS be lighter in color as to be able to see the back of the dishwasher when putting up the clean items. It is larger and deeper than my old machine.
