I have owned this dishwasher for 5 years and have spent nearly $500 trying to keep it working. I finally threw in the towel today after the electronics failed for the second time. Stay away from Kithchen Aid.

Conflicted - good and not so good

We are fairly happy but have some issues with a couple of things. First, the control panel is way too sensitive. It sits just under the counter and turns on if you just brush against it, i.e. getting dishes from cabinet above or using counter top in food preparation. Secondly, the utensil basket is hard to get to because it sits on the side rather than the front.

Cheaply made KUDS30IXBT Dishwasher

Dishwasher is 2.5 years old.
A lot of the system seems to be made out of low grade plastic, which means the dishwasher is prone to many failures very quickly.
The silverware holder is made out of plastic, and the plastic holders that are used to hold the silverware so each piece stands individually will warp out within 30 days. Is this a deal breaker, no, but a sign of lack of quality.
The control panel lights. Very touchy. Sometimes, if you lean up against the control panel, it will do some sort of auto drain mode or something. This started within the first six months of owning it.
The Control Panel Buttons also just don't work. The system will have ran and been emptied. All lights are off for a few days. You load the dishwasher as you normally do over a period of days. When full, you try to make the system start. And it won't. You have to cancel out the system and then get it started.
The upper dish rack. The roller wheel assembly is made out of plastic. Some people have had it where theirs failed within the first year. Ours made it 2.5 years before the top dish rack failed and crashed down onto the lower dishrack. Luckily, no dishes were broken. I am now looking to repair these. The parts I need look to be W10195336.
Dish Cleaning. This could be due to our hard water or maybe it is due to the system. Over a period of time, the once crystal clear glasses get all filmy and are no longer crystal clear. By the way, we have lived in the house for 26 years and our previous dishwasher we did not have this problem.

This is the 3rd dishwasher I've purchased in 18 years of being married. This one didn't last 3 years.
The first thing to give us trouble was the Lock button. Then the plastic rack rollers broke-- I fixed those with steel epoxy. Then the random leaking started--never did figure that one out. Next the computer began losing its mind. We often had to shut the power off for a while then repeat till it worked. Now the "Clean" and the "Washing" buttons are permanently on and no other buttons respond.

Cheap plastic parts

We have had this about 3 years. Within a month of the 1 year warrenty plastic parts on the inside were breaking (adjuster assay, drawer slides, etc.) I have replaced a number parts inside and I am now having to replace them again along with other parts. It seems that the plastic used for these parts were not meant for hot dishwasher conditions. We are NOT happy with the amount we paid for the quality we got. We certainly expected it to last longer. I almost wish we would have just paid to fix our old one as it would probably have outlasted this.

Cleans well, Dish rack and leaking an issue
on June 24, 2017

We purchased this dishwasher 5 years ago when we remodeled our kitchen. We chose it because it had a recessed handle, had good ratings for cleaning and was quiet. Our kitchen is small and a protruding handle is a big issue. The front controls are convenient but can be easily triggered if you lean against the surface. My real issue is quality construction. One year in it leaked, bad gasket but under warranty so replaced. Third year in, top rack broke. I ordered a part and replaced. Since then we've had another leak and the rack broke a second time. My wood floors are warped and the [art replacement costs are adding up. I've decided to move on which is unfortunate as the machine cleans well and is relatively quiet and was more affordable. Sadly it seems the top rack has been an issue for others as well. I will go for a higher-end model and hope we have better results.

Nothing but a paperweight
on September 2, 2017

I bought this dishwasher in 2012 because it was a Kitchenaid and that meant quality to me. In the past two years I've had to replace the control board twice and it has now failed a third time. This is nothing more than a paperweight. Even when it worked there were items that needed to be re-washed. It was quiet, but that was the only saving grace for it. I'll never buy another Kitchenaid appliance again.
