The top rack is built with plastic rollers, plastic retainer clips and plastic end clips. All of which have broken to one degree or another in less than a year!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am happy with this product. There are 2 features I do not like. The silverware tray is horrible. The top plastic to hold silverware does not stay in place. The other problem is if you dont lock it does turn on if you lean up against it. The last problem and its not a big one is people do forget to restart it if the dishwasher is opened when in operation. I would love to know if there is another silverware tray for this dishwasher because it is a big disappointment.

Excellent performance, even with our hard well water and without doubt, the quiestest dishwasher in the world. However, the front mounted touch controls are way too sensitive. For example, inadvertantly leaning against the machine will result in the machine starting, usually the Cancel/Drain function. We work around this by not latching the door when the machine is not in use; however, we avoid leaning against the door to reach something on the counter because that can latch the door setting up a potential start condition on the next lean.
Pros: easy to use, Performance
Cons: buttons too sensitive

We recently replaced a base model Frigidaire dishwasher with the KitchenAid 24-Inch, 4-Cycle/6-Option Dishwasher. With our kitchen being open to the living room, we were never able to run the old dishwasher while watching television in the living room - it was just too noisy. Now I can run a load of dishes and my husband doesn't even notice that the KitchenAid is running! Extremely quiet and thoroughly cleans our dishes.
