This dishwasher is great in every way except for drying dishes. It cleans well and looks good. Buttons get pressed easily if you lean against it when getting something from cabinet above it unless you lock the buttons out. I recommend this product but b ready to hand dry your dishes when unloading it.
Pros: easy to use, Innovative, Convenient Features
Cons: Drying

This is the 5th dishwasher i've owned. It is by far the best one. I love how you can change the layout by lowering the plate and/or cup holders. It makes washing different size bowls and pans a breeze to fit them all in. It is so quiet I find myself trying to listen by the front of sink to hear if water is on. The silverware tray is a great design running along the whole side rather than in the corner blocking a whole chunk of bottom shelf.
Pros: Innovative, Performance, Convenient Features, easy to use, Design

Worst dishwasher ever!

I have been using Automatic dishwashers for my entire, long life and I have never owned one as useless as this. It was installed in my kitchen on November 23, 2013, the Friday before Thanksgiving. Since that time we have had several holiday related gatherings with family and friends. This dishwasher has never performed the way I would expect. Every load leaves me with several items that need to be hand washed or left to go through a second or third cycle. I am not talking stuck on cheese or other high protein based food, I am talking a simple cereal bowl or ice cream bowl or even a salad plate that may have some avocado smear left behind. I scrape every plate/bowl/cup that goes in as needed but there are always items that I need to hand wash when all is said and done. As well as what I can see I can also feel an all over grit left behind on the surfaces and back of plates and bowls. My first impression was that it was not using enough water to get the job done. eg: I put a 9x9 pyrex baking pan on the bottom rack in front of the door, below the detergent cup. When I emptied the dishwasher in the morning I could feel a oily residue on the back of the dish, also left on the inside of the door; left over gel from the dispenser cup or even the rinse aid or, not enough water being used to circulate the products? We called the installer who checked and told us that all was correct on his end. I had a nice 'chat' with someone here at KitchenAid web site who told me to check water pressure, look for a clog in the bottom of the unit, make sure my water was hot enough, etc# This dishwasher replaced a 13 year old Maytag, no change in water pressure or temp of water; the only change is this dishwasher# Since this unit was installed I have learned that I can not nest bowls, even if one is off-set# I can not load it to what I would think was capacity or I will be washing up to 25% by hand when the cycle is finished# I know that KitchenAid advises the use of Cascade in their washers but I have a bad history with Cascade with our soft water = etching. In this unit I have used Polmolive Eco and now I am trying Trader Joes power and always with a rinse aid. I also agree with so many of the other reviews of this unit re: the controls are in the wrong place and are easy to press without intending to do so. Most times, as I work at the counter above this unit I will inadvertently touch the start button with my hip. Happens more often than you might think. ON the up side, this unit is very, very quiet. I am very sorry to leave such a bad review but I am so disappointed with this dishwasher AND with KitchenAid...a brand that I always trusted, that to do any less would feel dishonest.
Pros: Very quiet
Cons: controls in the wrong location, does not get the job done!

This washer cleans very well. It looks good and is easy to use. The problems I have with it are it has no rinse only cycle for when the dishes will be sitting in it for a while before washing them. It takes a really long time.
Pros: easy to use, Performance, Design
Cons: takes a really long time, no rinse only cycle

The main reason for selecting a Kitchen Aid was reliability. Our previous dishwasher was a Kitchen Aid which was over 30 years old and serviced us perfectly. The new unit is extremely quiet and easy to program. There's lots more space inside and loading is a breeze. The adjustable racks are well designed and the utensil trays are a major improvement. Overall, we are very pleased with the product.
Pros: Design, quitness

Cons: Let me start with the 2 negatives to get them out of the way.
1. Sometimes the Control Lock seems to cancel itself. We don't know if it only holds for a certain length of time or if we are doing something to accidentally turn it off.
2. This, believe it or not, is our biggest complaint. The little inserts that hold the silverware never stay in place. I want to try and use them and my wife doesn't. They do keep the silverware separated and work well in that respect, but they are a pain to keep in place and also a pain when removing the silverware. That is the total reason this review didn't get 5 stars!
Pros: This dishwasher is quiet. We always ran our old one at night because it made too much noise. We now sit in the Great Room (open to the kitchen) and watch TV and don't even know the darn thing is running!
My wife still feels we need to rinse the dishes clean before using the dishwasher (old school) so we now use the Light/Crystal cycle most of the time and things come out beautiful. This does save both time and energy when we don't have dirtier dishes.
We have used the Normal cycle when there is some residue left on the dishes with an equally clean result.
Knowing we were going to run the dishwasher right after dinner one night I talked my wife into leaving the dishes messy and....leaving the Lasagna baked onto the casserole dish. We used the Normal cycle with the ProScrub option and everything, even the casserole dish looked sparkling clean. I might convert her yet!
We always use the Heat Dry option and we only have to wipe dry one or two glasses that have a very deep area on the underside of the bottom. With our old dishwasher we were drying about 1/3 - 1/2 of the glasses, on the bottom, after the washer was done. Now everything comes out spotless.
Just a note: We run the dishwasher 2-3 times / week and we are using Finish Powerball tabs and Jet-Dry. So far things are great.
Did I mention that this thing is SUPER QUIET! :-)
Pros: easy to use, Convenient Features, Performance
Cons: silverware holder inserts

When my previous dishwasher broke, I was quite upset. It was only 13 years old and I had never had any problems with it in the past. I had a repair man try to fix it. He had to come back 3 times and then decided it was the motor but could not guarantee that if he replaced it, that the dishwasher would work. I decided to purchase the KitchenAid dishwasher and am very satisfied with it's performance. My dishes sparkle and are squeeky clean. It has a quick cycle, it's quiet and it does a great job. I highly recommend this product.
