I had been looking at this and other dishwashers for several months and when it was time to make the purchase, I knew exactly which brand, model that I wanted. The brand was definitely going to be a KitchenAid, the model was the one I wanted and it met all of the dimension requirement of the space. The installer was excellent and did a fabulous job installing it. It replaced a 17 year old Kenmore.
Pros: Convenient Features, easy to use, Performance, Design
Cons: the silverware basket is nice but not very sturdy

This dishwasher is designed very poorly and the plastic parts used for its are very inferior. I had my Kenmore dishwasher for several years and I threw it because it was old not because it broke. But I am highly dissatisfied with this product. I will never recommend anyone to buy it.

RINCE CAP FAULTY , CAME OFF DURING CYCLE AND MELTED ON THE HEATING ELEMENT. WHEN THE CAP CAME OFF IT CREATED EXCESSIVE SUDS CAUSING UNIT TO LEAK ON THE CERAMIC TILE FLOOR. ALSO IF YOU SLIGHTLLY BRUSH UP AGAINST THE FRONT CONTROL PANEL IT WILL START THE UNIT TO RUN. HAVE HAD THE UNIT ONLY A SHORT TIME BUT THE OLD WHIRLPOOL IT REPLACED, WHICH WAS HALF THE PRICE, HAS NOT IMPRESSED ME YET.

Purchase this model for the dB level. Dishwasher VERY quiet during operation. Needed this feature b/c kitchen is in open area near living room. We can now watch TV while it's running ang it's not noticeable.
Only downside - if you bump up against door, you can inadvertently start/stop operation. Need to use lock feature which is OK b/c my 3 year old loves to push all the buttons.
My wife wished she had an external handle - mostly to hang a dish towel. She uses the 1 hr wash cycle and works great.
Overall - very satisfied.

Sadly I tell you that I am recently widowed. Now that I have moved into my new home and purchased the Kitchen Aid Dishwasher, I do not spend a lot of money buying "paper plates, cups and bowls". I now just put my daily used dishes in the dishwasher, then once a week I turn my KA Dishwasher on. I can then spend my time " doing my household chores" knowing that my dirty dishes will come out spotless, dry and only have to put away.
In my previous home where my dear wife only purchased "Kitchen Aid" appliances", that we had for over 13 years, never having any service needed on all my appliances, i.e., Dishwasher, Refrigerator, Microwave/Oven combo, plus our Electric flat stove top.

I love all the features, it cleans the bottom of my glasses as I would have dirty glasses from the dishwasher I had in the past. I had to rinse my dishes before loading them in past dishwasher, where I don't have to do this with my kitchenaid dishwasher. I love the stainless steel interior.
