After 4 years of owning this we are throwing it out. The main control panel has failed twice and the top rack brackets have failed 4 times! KitchenAid failed on this one and it seems others have had the same problems I have experienced. It was quiet, but I don't care how quiet it is if I am constantly fixing it!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We love the new Kitchenaide dishwasher. We sold our last house and the dishwasher went with it. The first thing we bought when we moved into our new home was a New Kitchenaide dishwasher. Love it. Its quiet and the dishes are spotless.
Pros: Design, Performance, easy to use

Very good installation instructions. Owners manual well written and easy to understand. Did not come with the required hose fitting for the water supply (it was an 'option' you had to purchase. The silverware basket is poorly thought out and the plastic closure on the trays do not stay together when loading or unloading silverware. Other than those two issues, the machine is attractive and really gets the job done with various cleaning options, depending on your needs
Pros: Performance, Convenient Features, easy to use
Cons: silverware tray is flimsy, optional' mandatory parts
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am very pleased with this product. It has a variety of controls to wash dishes depending your need. I also like the adjustable rack system. But best of all, I like how quiet it is.
Pros: Innovative

I am delighted with my Kitchen Aid dishwasher. I have had many other brands in the past but this is the first to really clean everything from cereal bowls to pots and pans and skillets. Great product.
Pros: Performance

We have found this dishwasher to be reliable, quiet and an excellent cleaner. Our favorite feature is the lights on the exterior which tell us the status of the wash/rinse/dry cycle. So many machines hide this information. The turbo feature works very well.
Pros: Performance, Design, easy to use

Purchased this dishwasher over CR's leading Bosch brand because it has a heated dry cycle. Assumed it would do a better job drying plastics. Wrong! We rinse all of our dishs and utencils before putting them in the dishwasher. No food scraps ever go in the dishwasher. That said this model does a good job. It appears well made. Like the stainless steel tub or interior which was a must to purchase. Relatively quiet overall but not completely silent. Like the one hour wash option which we always use. Bottom line it's a good dishwasher but be prepaired to hand dry some items even though it has a "heated dry" option.
Pros: easy to use
Cons: does not dry plastics
