Great grill

I bought this about a month ago and so far had great experience cooking steaks, whole fish, burgers, whole chicken and chicken pieces. It's certainly a two person job to build as some of the pieces are heavy - especially connecting the lid. It seems very solid.

Great Grill!

I love this grill. I’ve cooked 1000’s of pounds of meat on it now and even took it to Germany and back. The cast iron grates leave beautiful marks on steaks. This grill is big enough to cook for a party and can be used as a smoker using a 2 zone setup. I’ve cooked 2 turkeys at once and a half hog on it. I can’t wait until I can pass this grill on to my kids. I found my love for grilling on this thing.

I have 2 of these. 1 is like 35 years old and still cooks wonderfully. The key feature is the huge cooking area provided. It can feed a big party easily. The heat levels are adjustable by simply raising the whole grid.
I use it to smoke by piling briquets and soaked chips at one end and arranging the food items at the other end for indirect. works fine for a turkey breast at Thanksgiving. Keeps enough heat here in New England - something other smokers I have tried do not always maintain.

This is a classic charcoal grill. Made of cast iron with adjustable coal grates. I love this grill. The only thing that would make it better would be a rotisserie attachment. THE BEST GRILL AVAILABLE!!!

My parents bought this grill when they built their new house in Averett Woods in 1966. I put it together. It is still in their garage and I cook on it every time I am in town. It needs a new ash pan, but other than that, it is great shape. The cast iron grates are the secret to success of charbroil grills. This grill has smoked oysters, cooked chicken grilled thousands. Of hamburgers and hotdogs, cooked pork shoulders and ribs and of course the best steaks around. I think it needs to be in your museum for the oldest grill in continuous use. I have had three at my house and have bought three others for our lake houses.

The Gold Standard of Charcoal

My current CB940X is the 3rd one in my family. My father had one since I was a kid (I'm 67 now) until I inherited it and passed it on to my own son. I had one since my first wedding anniversary 47 yrs ago. Unfortunatley a natural disaster took that one from me. So now I have a replacement for it. i fully expect it will be the last grill I'll ever need. Everything from burgers to whole turkeys on a rotisserie has graced it. Hot fast grilling like steaks to slow smoking like ribs or brisket to virtuoso rotisserie work with large birds (I did mention a turkey above) whole pork loins, and eye of round roasts. There aren't any other grills on the market, charcoal or gas, that can match the ability of the CB940X. The only full-sized grill I would ever even consider buying.

Well built with thick steel. Large cooking surface

Well built and heavy duty. My father had one when I was a teenager in the 1970's and taught me how to grill. I'm on my second one in over 20 years. First one lasted 16 before I gave to nephew and got a new one. Large cooking area allows you to sear on one side, and then move to other side for indirect cooking and smoking. Built with thick steel and everything closes tightly to retain heat. Good full ash tray pull out for easy cleanup. A very heavy duty grill and smoker.

Best multipurpose Charcoal Grill

Purchased my first 940 in 1978, used weekly or more, replaced several items, grill pan, grill surfaces. In 2017 bought second 940. As i am now 69 years old it should be the last grill i purchase. It is used for pork, fish, duck, deer, beef (standing ribs and steaks), lamb and all sort of vegetables. Wonderful grill..
