I have owned this grill or one of the earlier models of the grill for some 30+ Years. We use it twice and sometimes three days a week. It is great for grilling and smoking meats.

I love my grill...second one I have owned...with one exception... the wire that is supposed to keep the lid open does not work in any way shape or form. I finally re-shaped it just so that it would go in at all and it still falls out every time you open the lid. I have not been able to get the correct curve with the vice that I have to make it stay in the top part of the lid. But over all it is the BEST. What a shame!

Very durable, decades of use

I had bought this model or close to it so long ago I can't remember. I used it constantly someone talked me into a gas grill and I sold my old trust worthy. Gas and me did not get along, I have repurchased this same grill because of it's durability and ease of fire control and just down right great grilled food.
This grill model line has been out so long it just shows how good it is.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought my Char-Broil eight year ago have made pounds and pounds of jerky, grill hundreds of steaks , brats, beef, lots and lots of pork and once in awhile chickens at tailgate parties, charity events and more every week . my grill is just now showing signs of ware and well it should. LOVE MY GRILL!!

For my money, it's perfect in every way. It's built to last a lifetime, with the proper maintenance of course, and it looks AND cooks great!
Spend the money, you will be glad you did, I promise you.

I have had my CB 940 for about 25 years. I can tell you that this is the top of the line charcoal grill in the commercial business. What separates this grill from the others is the adjustable fire grate. The design is simple (you manually adjust the height, no cranking gizmos or gadgets) thus eliminating maintenance so you can sear a steak or slow smoke a roast or chicken. Air flow control is well thought out and I can see that the design has not changed since I purchased mine. Also it is big enough to cook 6 full chickens. It is constructed of long lasting materials (cast iron cooking grates, cast aluminum hood enclosures/ fire box door and the body is sheet metal with a good paint job) so obviously it will last a very long time. I'm 58 and if I continue to take care of mine it will last me the rest of my life. Glad to see that they are still built!
