Epson XP-610 All-in-One

Just spent about 3 hours trying to set up the EPSON XP-610 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Fax and cannot do it. The instructions which came with it are of no help. Also the instructions on the website are no good. They go by too fast for me to follow! It just seems like a piece of cheap plastic to me.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The quality of the photos are bad to much black. The extra black pigment in tank does no justice for the appearance and quality. Products with six ink tanks produce better photos something to be proud of. As for the printer I like the size. It should have the automatic paper drawer like the xp 850.

Decent printer, so-so drivers

The printer is decent quality. Scanning works fine and the printing speed over wireless is surprisingly fast.
However: the drivers that I downloaded from Epson's website installed an unwanted search bar on all my browsers (I use several) even after I explicitly said I didn't want to install it. I fail to understand why Epson needs to bundle their drivers with bloatware, and hope they change this soon.
Until then I can't recommend this printer to anyone. And Epson: I am in charge of suggesting hardware to a LOT of people.

My Printer

I like it - easy to use.
Hard on ink usage.
When printing photos I get black ink marks and globs of black ink on photos.
Sometimes even on regular printing.
Have done all maintenance requirements.

Neat

Have had several printers over the years each requiring some glitches in setting up. The Epson was the exception. It was fast, simple and with the wireless set up a breeze. One cord. All my laptops are downloaded to interface with the printer. Love it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

not good!

very difficult to install and seat ink cartridges. If you have to do a nozzle clean (which is often) it uses over half your ink up. I don't know where the ink goes but I can't afford this printer. I use it primarily to print dvd/cd's. It does a great job when it works. Lots of times the photo black won't work or another color so you have to reset the cartridge an do it over. Never again.
