XP-610 Small-in-One Printer

I bought this Epson Expression Premium XP-610 Small-in-One Printer to replace my aging Epson Ultra High Definition R280 Photo Printer and my Epson Perfection 1660 PHOTO Scanner. I appreciate the extra tray in the new XP-610 for photo paper and the space to store the DVD print tray. I found the photo print quality excellent. I have not tried to print on DVDs yet. I hope my new XP-610 will last as long as my previous Epson products.

Very Poor Instruction Sheet

I like this printer so far. I have one complaint. The Instruction Sheet needs improvement. The Instruction Sheet has only illustrations for steps 1-4 on setting this printer up. The Instruction Sheet has no statements telling you how to do these things. I had difficulty in setting this printer up from this Instruction Sheet. I had to call Technical Support at Epson due to no statements on the Instruction Sheet. There should be statements telling you how to do these things with each illustration in each step on the Instruction Sheet. It is very difficult to do something by looking at an illustration with no written instructions.

Thinking of buying an Epson XP-610? Don’t. If you are looking to print documents a printer one third the price will do the job just as well. If you want to print photos (as I do) the XP-610 is useless! This printer, it is said, is just the job for printing perfect photographs. Rubbish! I spend most of my time trying to get the colour right and only a few pictures have printed to a good standard (as yes I have tried the relevant “Advanced” settings within the driver). Now I am getting lines that cannot be eliminated by “Head Realignment” or anything else, and on this point Epson ‘support’ have told me there must be a fault with the printer (I have only had it one month!). As for the poor colour reproduction, that is something that cannot be corrected. It is the worst printer I have ever had and a complete waste of money. Epson are replacing it with another one – sadly the same model – but what I want is simply a printer that will print photographs perfectly.

I have tried MANY times to install the driver with NO RESULTS ! I am now very frustrated with the whole process My computer is a MAC OSX running version 10.9.1 and the computer does not recognize the fact that the printer exists I have installed and reinstalled from the packaged disk several times and it NEVER REGISTERS as a known printing device , or anything else. PLEASE HELP
I recently purchased my new printer and thus far it has worked wonderfully. The ability to execute printer tasks wirelessly is very convenient and easy to use. I'm 68 years old and retired if I can do this anyone can. Set up is easy, you simply insert the cd and follow the prompts. It has been a great purchase well worth the money.

When the "Print Test Page" window appears and error message pops up stating that the output tray is closed. OK, so where is the output tray? There is no reference to an output tray in any of the Epson Printer XP-610 documentation. It was eventually discovered by accident but it would have been nice to have seen it referenced in the user manuals.

Since purchasing this printer, we've gone through several ink cartridges - yet have very few copies to show for it. We've followed the instructions to a tee. We've purchased the cartridges from a variety of local vendors (as well as checked the expiration dates). We've cleaned them numerous times. And yet, this is the most frustrating - and expensive - printer we have ever owned.
