The Good & The Bad

Good:
*Great quality picture for movies
*The phone is very light weight and very thin
*The touchscreen is very user friendly
*Texting is very easy with this new feature called 'swipe'. It allows you to move from letter to letter without picking up your finger. It's better than a keyboard once you get the hang of it.
*There are a lot of great applications available.
*The camera takes good quality pictures.
*Great quality picture for movies
*The phone is very light weight and very thin
*The touchscreen is very user friendly

Bad:
*The quality of videos greatly decreases with web videos like youtube.
*You have to press the power button to wake up the screen as it frequently goes to sleep. Most other touchscreen phones only require a quick tap on the screen to come out of sleep mode.
*Although there are a lot of great apps most of the good ones cost you money.
*You are forced to create a gmail account when you activate the phone.
*The facebook application SNSAccount is sort of buggy.
*The phone does not have the latest version of the droid operating system.

Lots of potential.

I extensively researched this phone for several weeks prior to purchasing it. I knew it had not been updated to the latest Android rom but I went ahead with the purchase based on several statements by Samsung that an update would be coming in the near future.
It is now 2 months later and this phone is running, by industry standards, an obsolete OS. This impacts the potential features of this device. In a time where cell phones become outdated quickly it is frustrating that I invested in a device that can't be utilized to it's full potential.
Also, this phone has a known GPS problem and the filesystem causes the device to lag, which is very annoying. As a higher end Android phone, this is simply unacceptable.
As a loyal consumer of Samsung products over the years it saddens me that this will probably be the last Samsung product I will ever purchase.

Amazing Phone

I switched from the iPhone to the Fascinate and WOW, the android has a steep learning curve but once you understand it its much easer then the iPhones UI. Only complaint i have with the Fascinate is all the Bloat ware that is installed on it, it came pre-installed with about 20 apps that i will never use, can't remove, and all 20 of those apps start and run in the background till i got an turn them off. If there wasn't as much bloat ware or the ability to remove the apps you don't EVER use, the battery life on this phone would be much better. Only way to remove or freeze the Pre-Installed apps is by rooting the phone which voids your warranty so i highly recommend against that.
For instance i have never used any of the V-Cast apps because the Android ones are better and cheaper. I have never used VZ Navigation cause Google Maps is free. I don't need a uninstallable version of a Trial of Tetris and Need for Speed. I don't need Blockbuster, Car Cradle, Desk Cradle, Daily Briefing, Kindle. The phone should come pre-installed with a Task Manager that automatically kills running applications at interviews. This is a feature lacking on all Android phones. Ive had to get my phone replaced already haven't owned it a month yet, found out that during an update if you don't have atleast 50% battery life the phone will die and you will have to get it replaced.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight, very fast!!
Cons: to much bloat ware, cant remove preinstalled apps, short battery life due to bloat ware

Fascinate is Fabulous

An unbelievably fast, bright and intuitive phone with many more apps than I imagined. Even the battery lasts longer than I anticipated by paying attention to killing apps, bluetooth and GPS when not in use.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, very fast, unbelievable voice recognition software, so many apps
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love the phone but have to say that I HATE the location of the power on/off button. I am constantly turning off the phone accidentally and locking the screen. Also when I'm adjusting the volume, I tend to lock the phone because the volume and power buttons are diagonal from eachother and I tend to press simultaneously
Other than that I love it, the screen is amazing, great pictures, the voice clarity is great and i've had no dropped calls. Web browsing is amazing, it's like having a mini laptop. Had the Droid X and switched to the Fascinate. No regrets!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Lightweight, great camera
Cons: location of power button, no designated camera key button
I would recommend this to a friend!

Never again!

So ive had this phone for about two months now and guess what? Im still waiting for the update thats never gonna come. I mean dont advertise an update if its not available. I see other android phones that come with it already installed, so whats the hold-up? I was skeptical of samsung products to begin with, this just confirms how i felt. I can tell u this..never again and i wont be recommending them to anyone else either.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, very slow updates...this is major!

Better when/if it gets the upgrade to Android 2.2

Like the phone, but the 2.2 upgrade is sorely needed. Why is Samsung delaying this???

Soft ware problems

Something is wrong with GPS and with the Sync took several trips to the store to stop loosing all my phone numbers and back up asistant wont work . Had to download all numbers before sync so I could finally stop loosing all my contacts...sure hope these software issues are fixed...otherwise I will have to return the phone for another product
