I love this phone!

I have been looking and comparing the Fascinate to so many cell phones and found that this has everything that I want in a phone. It is very fast and connects faster to the internet than my desktop computer. One of the drawbacks is that the camera is in the app section and no external button on the side to access the camera but once I am on it, the quality of both is very good. I am still waiting for the 2.2 update because I heard that it will have Adobe Flash 10.1 player. I like the fact that I can use the phone as a 3rd generation hot spot, but upset that I have to pay separate for the service. I feel what I am paying already should pay for that anyway. I guess another reason to get more money from the consumer. It should be included if anything and at least have that functinality without being gouged. I cannot play some of my TV videos (Breaking Bad) because of only certain formats have to be converted on the video but I will figure it out eventually. I find it difficult to turn off the music as some programs do not have a stop button. It seems that it is alway on and until I shut off the phone, it's on. Overall, the phone is great looking, fun, and functional. It is like a smaller version of the Galaxy Tab. They look the same.

Cons: no external camera button, no video convertor, no stop button on music player, 2.2 update is taking too long

HAD THE BLACKBERRY TOUR AND THOUGHT THAT WAS THE GREATEST PHONE EVER TIL I PURCHASED THIS FASCINATE. NOW THIS IS THE GREATEST PHONE IVE EVER OWNED. LOVE THE SIZE, FEEL, FEATURES, WEIGHT AND PERFORMANCE OF THIS PHONE.

The Samsung Fascinate *would* be the best phone I've ever owned, *BUT*...

The standard battery that ships with the Samsung Fascinate is, in my opinion, not of sufficient endurance; I've exhausted mine within 3.5 - 4 hours when using games. As a consequence of this, I have purchased a Samsung 2200 mAh
Extended Life Battery (VZW P/N SAMI500BATX).

The Extended Life Battery works terrifically well, but finding the OEM Samsung battery door that is also required is another matter altogether. I cannot find this part anywhere; so if you find yourself in the same situation, make certain that the extended life battery you purchase also comes with the extended battery door!

I invested a lot of time comparison shopping for good android phones as our contracts (and dinosaur phones) were about to expire. Last month I purchased 2 Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate phones for my husband and me and we have no regrets, other than a couple of quirks.
Its usability is so friendly that we (new to android phones) learned all functions, features, twists and tricks within 48 hours. We are impressed with its speed, functionality, features, style, sleek design, sounds, colors, graphics, just everything.
The only complication we have is that one of the phones froze twice during video taking, and once during transitioning between one application and another. On the other phone the "contacts" application button disappeared from the permanent launch bar at the bottom of the phone. We did find the application in the apps menu and had to drag it onto the front of the phone but could not find a way to put it back in the launch menu where it belongs.
Overall, we are very satisfied with our phones and would recommend this phone.

Cons: tendancy to freeze

Dislike Bing, but awesome phone

My only problem with this phone is that it comes stock with Microsoft Bing integrated into everything instead of Google. After all, this is an Android phone one would think Bing wouldn't be an issue. It seems that one cannot remove Bing without rooting the phone which is something I'm not prepared to do - more importantly - I shouldn't have to.
Overall though, fantastic phone. Strongly, strongly recommend, just know what you're getting into with Bing.

Cons: stuck with bing integration

Great Phone

With the Android 2.1 OS, it is the very best phone I ever used. Great battery life, and lots of neat features. I upgraded to 2.2 OS, and not as happy with the battery life. I am learning what draws the most battery usage and an turning those features off, but with the original OS, it had outstanding battery life. If you do switch to 2.2, turn off the live background, that was one of the things I found used a lot of battery with the new OS, Other than that, I love it, and love the OS, both of them. It functions very similar to the Iphone, but I like this one much better. Love the capability to switch between home screens.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight

Better than the iPhone

I just bought two of these one for myself and one for my wife. We love the phone, more of a computer than a phone. surf the web, great HD camera and video camera. I have an i touch and this phone and the touch are pretty close. the phone will handle flash too. LOVE IT!

The Best Android VZW Had To Offer Upon Release

I took ownership of this phone when my wife upgraded to a Xoom. I was coming from a Blackberry Storm 2, and I was amazed!
Have two batteries, and a charger at every location! You have been warned.
Pros: Bright display, Durable, Lightweight, fast
