Awesome size, horrible back light bleed

I purchased this monitor hesitantly. The size and curve seemed awesome but the price was a little high. I decided to purchase it because I had read some great reviews though. I saw a lot about back light bleed problems but supposedly they were all fixed in production. This was not the case. The monitor I received had the worst back light bleed I have ever seen. I'm sending the monitor back for a replacement hoping that the replacement will not have the bleeding but I'm considering just returning it for a refund. From the other monitors I have seen people receive, most of the monitors have back light bleed. I haven't decided if having to return it multiple times will be worth the hassle for what the monitor provides. I love the size of it and it has awesome features but trying to watch dark videos with the bleeding in unbearable. If the price of the monitor was not so high I wouldn't be as bothered by it but I would hope that for such a large amount of money there would be perfect. I will update this review if I get another monitor with how it turned out.

Overall, good monitor but expensive

The graphics are great. I use this with a MacBook Pro over Thunderbolt 2. I would not recommend over HDMI as the resolution is lower. The only 2 things I have complaints about are about using the volume, I cannot control via the keyboard and have to us the monitor volume levels. The other is the quality of the speakers is way below average. The sound is muffled and sounds like it comes out of a box.

Great monitor and TB2 works well
on January 4, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unfortunately, Apple switched to TB3. This monitor works fine with the TB3->TB2 adapter. I have not tried it with a TB3 dock that outputs mini-displayport, since they do not exist yet. More importantly, it would be important that USB devices still work over this interface change. I hook up two computers to this monitor by using a USB3 hub and TB2 interface for connecting the data peripherals. Ideally, my TB3 monitor would only require 1 cord, which the TB3->TB2 adapter is insufficient for.
Do not buy this monitor for gaming, you will be disappointed. Few games support ultra-wide but good ones will letterbox for you. Bad games will be unplayable since the aspect ratio messes with the game and UI elements will be off the screen.

Love this display. Works with older iMacs

Love this monitor. I have it connected via Thunderbolt to my Mid-2011 27" iMac and it works perfectly. I've had no problems with corner or edge colors as some others have reported (I ordered mine in Jan, 2015 so perhaps it's a newer run). The picture is beautiful and the curved display is actually welcome in this form factor. I do wish it had some height adjustment so that I can have it at the exact same height of the iMac, but other than that, I have no issues. Some people have had problems with the "joystick" control at the bottom of the monitor, and the fact that the keyboard sound controls no loner work once you've plugged this monitor in, but it's quite simple to just reach for it under the screen and toggle left or right for direct volume control. So I've no issues with that. I will probabaly look into the VESA adapter to perhaps move the screen height with a different mount, but will see. All in all, a great buy. Love it.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use

Documentation Leaves much to be desired

The monitor is very nice, but getting started with little or no documentation included in the packaging was extremely disappointing. The unit seems to have many features, but little help to how to use them properly.
I feel like I have wasted many hours because of this and still am not sure that I'm able to take advantage of the high quality of the device.
Frustrating experience.

Subtle Curve Makes Big Difference
on December 27, 2014

I love the picture quality of this monitor. The subtle curve for me makes a big difference. Gives you a way better perspective than you get with a flat panel screen. Some reviewers complain about back light bleed but honestly the only time I notice it is just before you boot to windows. The quality of the picture makes it unnoticeable when in windows or watching a movie. Not a big deal at all. I love this monitor. It's a keeper.

A simply amazing monitor

Wow...the capabilities of this new monitor are amazing. The 21:9 aspect ratio is a little weird to get used to at first. But then it dawns on you that this is a game changer and how did you ever live without it. Colors are bold, vivid and crisp. There is a slight backlight bleed in the edges but it doesn't bother me. I use mine for multiple Word Documents, Spreadsheets, Movie Making and Gaming. Nothing but 5/5 for all of my uses. The only downside is that the back panel (which is visible on my desk) is more of a rose color than silver. Plus it uses a god awful power block that isn't quite long enough (and brilliant white to add to my aggravation). Not sure why they couldn't use a normal power cord. But other than those issues, I love it.

While I'm not a gamer, I do a fair amount of photo editing and video watching. Really love the real estate, and ability to park multiple full size windows at one time. At work I use two monitors, but with this unit there is not need. Great monitor!
