[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to replace a 25 year old classic 3 quart ..It was used for years by my friends grandfather . She gave it to me .One of the best gifts I have ever received I loved it so much and use it for everything from meatballs to banana bread I decided to upgrade to the 5 quart with a glass bowl ! I love it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was a little skeptical when ordering and had put off for some time. But I was looking at an ice cream maker, a meat grinder and maybe a pasta maker. I liked the idea of the KitchenAid because of the attachments I could get for it. It would be replacing a Sunbeam stand mixer I had. When I received it, it was heavy and I decided to put on the counter rather than the pantry. I also ordered the ice cream maker and the meat grinder. I've made belgium waffles, ice cream, and ground meat among other things. The Mixer was a real work horse. Learned a few things in regards to adding items to the mixer while its running, don't be in a hurry or you'll get it on the head too.
The ice cream maker was a blast. I waited for it to thicken and I left for a couple minutes and came back to find it had thickened some as well as expanded (the Vanilla Ice cream in the book is delicious but need to lessen the recipe (2.5 cups each is too much, max 2 cups, as it expanded beyond the bowl). The meat grinder was a bit of a challenge, meat needs to be partially frozen (stiff). If the fat builds up it can clog as well as back off the tightening cap a little.
But the Stand Mixer itself is a great investment, a real work horse, a great addition to the kitchen. I will use if often. I am very frugal and it was a giant step out of my comfort zone to pay for this Stand Mixer but it has proved to be well worth it. So if your stuggling with the decision to purchase, my advice is bite the bullet and go for it, you won't regret it.
