A TV that exceeded my expectations

This TV sat Next to another brand in my den I used both on all the time the other was considered one of the top three it cost about the same as my Phillips. Well, I found the software, menus etc. on the Philips were definately superior to any other I have used. The set was easy to use in all aspects. Not so for the competitor, not only that The other set had early video faults and eventually failed to work at all (thank goodness I bought an extended warranty) Getting service on competitor was a long process, it was finally declared uneconomically repairable. I eventually got a check. The Philips won hands down in every catagory in this long extended side by side road test. My high rating was fairly earned.
Pros: menu's and controls superior in general, never any video faults even after long useage., picture quality great for this price, the initial setup was superior
Cons: drat for this unit i could not find fault.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The picture is astounding.

This is our second Philips hdtv. We got the smaller one for mom at the nursing home so she could watch my brother who starred in Season 3 of Ice Road Truckers in Alaska. The staff and residents crowded in for popcorn and a "movie." That tv brought mom a lot of visitors and made her hours there more enjoyable. We have that one in our bedroom now that mom is gone.
We were so impressed that when it was time to replace our livingroom tv, we got another Philips, this one a bit larger to match the space. I think that we see the difference most while watching programs like Planet Earth and NatGeo. The animals "breathe" right in front of us. The details and the colors draw one into the screen.
Anyway, we were very happy with both of them.
I would recommend this to a friend!

difficult to turn on

The tv is about a year old. It recently became difficult to turn on. It may take half a dozen attempts to turn the tv on before stays on.

Great picture and sound

The picture is beautiful and the sound is excellent. It runs most of the day, 7 days a week and we've had it over 2 years without a problem. Still looks as good as the day we got it.
