Bought this unit to complement my un46c7000 3d television... excellent combination i must add...
have only had the opportunity to watch to 3D movies on it thus far... the unit reads disc relatively quick when compared to other players, and the price was excellent.
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color, fast

2D movies "skip" frequently

I've found that depending on the movie, the display will skip a frame or two, making the display "jerky". Older movies (i.e. those made in the '70s & '80s) seem to have more issues than new ones, although ALL 2D movies seem to have the issue to one extent or another. New or old DVDs/Blue Ray doesn't seem to make a difference. I've downloaded 2 new levels of firmware since I bought the unit on 12/19/2010, and have seen no change with the issue.
Other than that picture is extremely sharp, and colors are good.

Poor design

Control buttons along the top were a bad idea. They should be along the front, so you can view them easily and won't accidently hit a button because you are grabbing the unit. Mine sits on top of my 65" rear projection TV and I cannot see the buttons without standing on my tippy toes.
My unit makes alot of noise, when playing and when in pause mode. Sounds like it's trying to play/rewind, do something.
I also do not like the way it changes my input when I put in a DVD. Just because I put a DVD in doesn't mean I'm ready to watch it right then and there. Furthermore, I wish it wouldn't start the movie right away, but give me the option to hit PLAY when I'm ready.
This is my first Blu Ray player and, honestly, I'm disappointed. The home theater it came with is great (sound is awesome), but the player itself leaves much to be desired.
Pros: Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Freeze up issues and lag

This Blu Ray player is worthless. It can't play a movie with out it freezing up 4 or 5 times and when it starts to play again the audio is all off (lip Sync) from the video. I have down loaded software up grades and it still doesn't work properly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
