A Phone I can love from Day One

It is hard to call these things we carry around with us phones -- they are more electronic data and information storage and delivery devices. But enough about semantics, I'll still refer to it as a phone for this review to prevent confusion.
This is the first phone in years -- many devices -- that I have loved from the first hour. I needed a rugged phone that could ride around in my pocket and not be bothered by sweat and dirt. More importantly, I was tired of ones that kept taking pictures of my pocket and launch other apps -- because shake to launch could not be turned off permanently. This phone has not launched one extra app during handling, shaking, twisting and so on.
It is very well designed, feels great, and is not too heavy for my shirt pockets. It is loud when turned up, so can be heard while running equipment or when misplaced under blankets or other items.
There were four main features I was looking for in a phone: volume, durability, size (fits in most shirt pockets) and an SD card slot.
This phone meets and exceeds my expectations.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Durable!!

My husband's work got this for him. He is a property manager for an apt. complex. He has dropped it on the ground, in a dumpster and in a full sump pump pit and it still works great! Actually influenced my purchase after 2 Blackberrys I had took a "swim"

Easy to use and durable!

This is my first smart phone and is absolutely perfect for me. I need durable, simple, and functional. This phone meets all of that, but is not any larger or less sleek than the other brands out there.

Have had a few months---- I am super tuff on cell phones --- outside alot working/fishing around water --- so far very pleased - switched from IPhone !
phone is tough, easy to use, bright screen, LOUD RING TONES !

Super tough

I use this phone daily in challenging environments and it has not let me down. Other smart phones that I have managed to destroy were housed in "rugged" cases which just added to their bulk and usually made them unusable. The Kyocera needs no case and has survived just over a year of working in the rain, dust, dirt and disgusting stuff. It gets dropped, carried in a pocket with loose change and keys, gets fumbled by gloved hands, and even was dropped in a bucket of used motor oil once.Even after all that abuse, it still works perfectly. I regularly clean the phone with hand cleaner and a scrub brush then hose it off or swoosh it around in a bucket of water. It just keeps going.Although not important to most people, this phone carries a Class 1, Division 2, Group A-D rating which allows it to be safely used in an explosive environment. Perfect for those of us in the pipeline business where this is an issue.The speaker phone is loud and easy to use with the dedicated button at the top of the phone. My only regret is that you cant replace the battery knowing that someday it will not hold a charge and I will have to replace it knowing it probably will be discontinued it. This is a phone for people with tough jobs or play hard.
