Tough little phone!
on March 27, 2017

I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews! I am a zoo keeper so I am around dust and water all the time and take the occasional "beating" from some rather large goats. I tried 2 different phones and they both died within a few months after I started working at the zoo. This phone has taken quite a beating but it has lasted about 1.5 years and my only problem is it has slowed down some and the glove feature doesn't always work. But it still works and I can still do everything I could do when I first got it. This is a tough little phone and I would definitely recommend it to anyone, especially if you have a rough and tumble lifestyle!

I go this phone a few days ago and I hit the jackpot. First off it's fast from running multiple apps at a time or the instant bluetooth connection to my truck. It might be on the thicker side but this is truly a phone that doesn't require a thick protective case, which as we all no turns your nice slim phone into something a lot bigger and bulkier. The battery life is great as well. Between playing music, movies and streaming hulu during a 6 hour road trip, the phone only went from 100% to 58% without ever being on the charger. It is also as loud as it's advertised, using your ringtones or the ones programmed in the phone, you will not miss a call because you didn't hear it ring. The camera might only be 8MP, but takes very clear pics, has 4x zoom and takes instant pics, no 3 or 4 second pause. Bottom line, this is a great phone all the way around and I can't wait to see how many years of use I get out of it.

I have had this for 3 days now and so far it out performs it's description, there is a lot to learn on this phone and I am still in the process of that. The battery seems to last better than indicated providing you turn off a lot of the apps it has installed.
It is a rugged form phone with the military standards so does not need a heavy duty case for protection which makes this phone actually small compared to other smart phone.Works great with Plantronics Voyager Pro blue tooth. You can adjust the fonts so you can see the phone information very easily and can adjust the brightness.Once I learn all the ins and outs to this phone I believe I will be staying with this model in the future

I have upgraded to the Kyocera Duraforce because of it's smaller size than the large 6" phones, and because this phone is a strong durable as it states in the Manual. All you working men out there who would like a strong durable phone that will withstand harsh elements and falls this is the phone for you. A nice phone well worth it's price. It is even nice looking and heavier than the other smart phones, but it is heavy because of it's durability features and also will fit nicely in back pocket without falling out. I personally keep it in a phone case when I go out. I will always stick with a Kyocera phone.

MISTAKE

I have haad this phone about 10 months. I was mildly impressed by it at first, posting a positive review(too soon!). The Duraforce is the biggest piece of junk ever! It pocket dials, dialing a number is excruciating due to severe latency whenever you press a number, the screen goes black at the worst times and takes several seconds to light back up, the time zone changes for no reason and apps just "stop responding". It freezes, the hotkey is garbage and there are just too many stock apps that I never use and can not remove. It is durable, however. Due to the issues above I have tested that feature extensively! It's just not worth it.

Great rugged phone

I am really pleased with this phone. I've only had it for a few days but I have no problems with it at all. I'm not a fan of the trend to make phones as thin as a dime and light as a feather. The trade off for this type of design is a flimsy device. Take for example the Iphone 6+ which you can bend. Being an electronics technician that just doesn't work for me. My last phone was a Samsung Galaxy S3. Thin I guess until I put an Otterbox case on it for protection. That made it about as thick as the DuraForce.
I have run it under water in the sink and it still works. I haven't thrown it around to test it but you can tell by the feel it isn't going to shatter if you drop it. It might break your toe but you'll still get a dial tone.
You can use it with gloves on but the gloves need to fit pretty well. My floppy work gloves didn't work but some with a better fit worked when I gave the screen a good jab with my finger.
The 3100 ma battery is awesome. I charged it and used it for 24 hours and it was down to 66%. I don't use the phone constantly like some people seem to. I don't stream music or videos. I think if you do that and expect the battery to last a long time you are in the weeds.
I have it weighing 7.15 oz naked and 8.8oz with the holster.
This isn't the phone for the skinny jeans set. If you are really active, work in the trades or just want a tough, reliable piece of gear this is the set for you.

No Good

I had a review written up to point out the numerous problems with this pathetic excuse for a smart phone, but the website would not accept it. It kept saying there was profanity, and I can assure you that there was none. So, I am trying to see if this will be accepted. I will only say this. DO NOT buy this phone. It is not worth what they want for it, nor does anyone need the aggravation that comes with this poorly designed, and functioning phone.

Power button is a horrible design

The raised power button on the top of the phone is a terrible design for a contractor like me that carries their phone in their pocket. I am on a first name basis with most of the local police departments because the phone will turn on and make an emergency call from my pocket at least once a week. When it's not calling the police, it can also out itself in airplane mode while in my pocket. Sometimes hours will go by that I will not get my calls or messages because it was in my pocket in airplane mode without me knowing. Verizon's version of this phone has a flush button on the top of the phone and I never had these issues.
