Makes an average cup of Joe. The "cups" in the machine are much less than an 8 oz cup. The lid to the carafe is cumbersome to use, it doesn't hinge at all and one has to be careful not to spill the coffee, also the lid pops off making it cumbersome to remove and clean. Takes up a lot of counter space, have to bring it out from under the cabinet to lift the machine lid.

Pros: 14 cups, makes hot coffee, ability to set warming plate 0-4 hrs for auto shutoff, fairly compact, permanent gold filter included, 3 year manufacturer warranty, stylish.
Cons: did shut off once immediately after brewing, drips on the counter from lid when fully opened, only two rubber feet vs four causing the coffee maker to slide whenever removing/replacing the carafe.

The campacity of the pot is 14 cups, but there's a switch to brew a good 4-cup pot.The pot warming burner has 4 settings: H, M, L and off. I like that. Pulling out the pot for a quick cup before the entire pot is brewed is easy and does not spill. Programming for auto brewing in the morning is easy. Setting the clock is easy. The read-out is in blue, not the boring grey and black. The warming burner has an auto shut-off after an hour.
