Read a lot of the reviews. Some concern regarding an off flavor. I ran two 10 cup brews through it with no coffee and did not have any issues with subsequent brews with coffee. In fact, this maybe the best coffee maker I have ever had. Really good coffee.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Filtered water will reduce plastic smell & taste

After running a few pots with just tap water, the coffee maker smelt like burning plastic. The first pot of coffee tasted like burning plastic. I then ran a vinegar water solution through the coffee maker which temporarily took out the burning plastic smell and taste. Over the following weeks it was hit-or-miss on whether or not our coffee would taste like plastic, that we would then have to dump down the drain and start over with a new pot. Since switching to Brita water exclusively, the plastic taste has reduced greatly. We have used older models of the cuisinart coffee maker for years with tap water and no issues.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great coffee maker, works well and love that it is a 14 cup! Beautiful design and fits well on countertop under the upper cabinets.

I do love this coffee pot, 14 cups is definitely what we need in the morning. No need to make a second pot. If I had to say anything negative it would only be that if you get a fine grind you need to use a paper filter or you will get lots of grounds in your coffee pot. Nevertheless, a good cup of coffee.

Makes great coffee, keeps it very hot and all controls and features are easy to use. You would think it costs 2-3 times as much
