We had this first model 6 1/2 years ago, used daily once or twice during that entire time with no problems, then no longer working as we had expected, we have no complaints about the durability. Certainly comes highly recommend to both friends and family.

I love the functionality and flexibility of this coffee maker, as well as longevity. Top features for me are ability to change the temperature of the coffee once brewed; ability to turn off the electronic beeper (that alerts to finished cycle), and less fragile glass carafe than many other brands. As well the intake for pouring in fresh water seems to have been enlarged, so it's significantly easier than many others. The carafe pours fairly well (not a dribble glass like many other brands). I have several of these (different locations) and they seem to have excellent service life. I've used the cleaning cycle (with vinegar) and it actually works, not a placebo! Overall, a well-engineered product with small but meaningful improvements over prior models. The dark stainless is perfect- doesn't show dirt, but not jet black.

I have bought four of these over the years for two different houses. They work very well for me with paper filter. I used to make French Roast Coffee, and now make French Roast Decaf. I usually make 4-6 cups at a time using both the Bold and "1-4 cups" settings. Always comes out delicious.

Bought this 14 cup as a replacement for our 12 cup that lasted us a long time. Still a great coffee maker but does occasionally drip when you are pouring the water into the reservoir even if you go slowly. It’s almost like the lid needs to open up just a tiny bit farther and it would never happen. Still a great machine!

LOVE that it makes 14 cups instead of only 12. Does everything it claims to do. Just make sure you hear the plastic filter holder SNAP into place, or you will have grounds overflowing the basket. Also, #4 cone filters are just a tad small to accommodate a full 14-cup helping of ground coffee, and #6 cone filters are just a little too big for the filter holder. Easy solution: use the #6 filter & fold about an inch along one side and about 1/2 inch across the bottom.
Biggest complaint: the white measurement markings on the side of the carafe started washing away (with HAND washing!) by about the third washing. For as much as this machine costs, such a simple thing to not get right is unacceptable. I had to go back over the very faint marks with a black permanent Sharpie. I just hope it's as permanent on glass as it is everywhere else.

I have purchased many Cuisinart products in the past... but I have to say this coffeemaker is the worst I've ever had. It was slow brewing even brand new... 20 minutes to make a pot of coffee. It's loud, it spews so much steam it has actually caused some wallpaper to peel off behind where it sits. The carafe constantly drips no matter how slowly you pour. And the beeper at the end of the brew cycle is so loud it could wake the dead!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
