Great basic coffee maker - we don't need grinders or milk frothers so this has been a perfect addition to our kitchen. It looks nice, feels solid (better than the all-plastic models out there) and makes a nice, large 14 cup pot o' joe when we want it. If only it'd clean itself.

This coffeemaker is very nice, and easy to program. However, I have had trouble using the permanent filter, as grounds go into the coffee pot, and 8-12 cup paper cone filters don't seem large enough to properly filter 12 cups of coffee. The grounds go behind the filter, and the coffee seems weak after that happens. It seems you have to find the sweet spot to position the pot under the filter basket for better results.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
