[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this instead of having to pay for eternity the Xfinity cable internet and voice modem. Installation was a little tricky with xfinity support but once everything was registered, this CM2050V was providing gigabit internet speeds and voice perfectly. This was paired with a Netgear R7000 router that simply needed to be factory reset in order to properly synchronize to the CM2050V to get the gigabit speed that this cable modem was provisioned for. Now no more lag and latency issues while online with this awesome unit.
No Longer Compatible with the Enhanced Tier on Xfinity

Bought this for future proofing as it was originially on the list of supported modems for the enhanced speed markets. Read numerous reviews and verified before buying that once the enhanced speed tier got to my area, I would be able to have faster upload speeds.
It has since been removed, due to firmware issues, and there appears to be no movement in correcting the issue. Netgear should offer trade in/upgrade offers for those of us who purchased with this specific use case in mind so we can have the functionality we thought we were getting when we purchased.
This modem significantly increased internet speed and was easy to install. I use it in an area that has slower internet speed and this made all the difference.

In late 2023 Xfinity/Comcast rolled back problematic firmware providing the old firmware that does not support Comcasts Mid-Split higher speeds, especially uploads greater than 20MB. It has been months and Netgear has no further information on the promised firmware fix. This devise is not recommended, although if you need phone support you may have few other choices.
