I have been using Brita for years. I recently had reason to make sure our household is protected against lead. I thought Brita's pour through filter being NSF Certified 53 meant we were. NOPE! Buried in the NSF website you'll find that filters must state NSF 53 AND reduces lead. Brita's filters do not. I am extremely disappointed and will be switching to a new brand.

Thanks for being a long-time fan, Sage, and we're happy to discuss this with you. While our Standard Filers don't reduce lead, they are certified to reduce chlorine, copper, cadmium, and mercury. We recommend giving our Elite Filter a try, which reduces chlorine, cadmium, 99% of lead, mercury, class I particulates, asbestos, and benzene. If you have any additional questions, please give us a call at 800-242-7482 using reference number 220902-000330. We look forward to speaking with you.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using an enormous pack of filters from a warehouse for so long, and now I am in need to replace my filter supply. I am wondering whether or not to buy a large pack or not. With a large pack, I have a ready back-up, and I do not have to run out and but one.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had my pitcher for several years. This is the second one I've gotten. It uses the filters I can buy at my local grocery store and the same filter fits both pitchers. I don't like the taste of the plastic I get when I buy bottled water so the dog gets that water and I wash and reuse the bottles with my filtered water. It's the only water I drink. Someday I'll get a bottle that I can use with my filtered water as I don't drink tap water. I totally love my old pitcher and my new pitcher that tells me when it's time to change the filter as well as the Brita filters I use.
