I love the watch. Its light, stylish and has a great feature set. Comfortable enough to wear while sleeping as well as exercising. The display is easily customized and there are so many styles and colors of bands to match just about any personal or professional outfit. I really love the health tracking and monitoring. I would give 4.5 stars if I could, I only docked for 2 main reasons - 1) I'm not particularly fond of the square body, round face look. I'd prefer the screen shape to match the body, but that is just my personal preference. 2) The battery life was good, but not quite as good as I was hoping compared to my galaxy watch 3 classic. I did have all the sensors active so I'm sure that has something to do with it. Even so I could easily go a day and a half (Day-night-Day) between charging. I would suggest putting it on teh charger when you take a shower, not just to protect it from water and soap residue, but doing so you will always have sufficient power. Useful purchase for sure!

If youre lookong for a slim watch with decent battery (its lasting me closer to 2.5 with exercise between charges) that can track your sleep and everything in between and you love samsung. This is a must. Dont regret it at all

Nice watch that's pretty comparable to my galaxy watch 6. The battery does last a little longer than my galaxy 6 watch. Has a few extra features that a nice compared to the galaxy watch 6. Overall I'm very happy with the watch so far time will tell though.

I wish I had returned this when I had the chance. I had been sorely disappointed by the Watch 4 because of battery life, and feel duped by all the reviews that told me that this Watch 8 had improved. I cannot fathom why Samsung can't make a watch battery that lasts more than half a day; it's mind-boggling. How does FitBit do it? We switched back to Samsung watches because we didn't want to pay a subscription to unlock all features. Turns out the Watch 8 doesn't have as many features as the FitBit. It doesn't do levels (stair stories) and that is a disappointment. You have to have it on a chargers sometimes twice a day which is just awful. The watch itself is pretty and has a nice display. It has the basic fitness features, but nothing that really stands out to me. If I don't charge it every single night before bed, the overnight features are useless because the batter will be dead by morning. It's almost like a chore to have to remember to charge it day in and day out.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have been using smartwatches since the original Pebble came out. After a few of those I move into the Withings because of the long battery life, but I was missing the capabilities of modern full fledged smartwatches.
After a few weeks with the 40mm Watch 8 I can say it is very nice having a more powerful smartwatch. Being able to pay from my watch, get full notifications and access to Google Gemini all without pulling out my phone has been great.
One thing to note is that battery life is about one day so you need to find a charging schedule that works for you in my case because I wear it at night I charge a little digin my shower and top it off at my desk in the office. Overall very please with the watch.
After a few weeks with the 40mm Watch 8 I can say it is very nice having a more powerful smartwatch. Being able to pay from my watch, get full notifications and access to Google Gemini all without pulling out my phone has been great.

AFIB & IHRN FEATURES ARE USELESS - Watch is a toy!

DO NOT BUT THIS WATCH if your purpose is to test for AFIB using Samsung's Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN) "feature". Be aware that, if you even locate it, at the top of a webpage the feature is described as periodically measuring your heart rate and "notifies you to take an ECG if it detects an irregular rhythm suggestive of atrial fibrillation". Buried further down the page and after you download their APP you will receive clarifying descriptions indicating: "When the Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN) feature is on, your Galaxy Watch will check your pulse a few times a day when you’re still. Your Watch and phone will notify you if your Watch detects 1 hour of an irregular rhythm that suggests atrial fibrillation."
What does "a few times a day when you are still" mean? Does it only check your pulse twice, three times, four times? Does that mean if I'm still it MAY check my pulse. And then only if you are in AFIB for 1 hour! What needs to be still - your whole body? Your arm? Do I need to be still for 1 hour for any checking, which MAY happen? Effectively, these parameters render this watch useless for the purpose of catching an episode of AFIB.
I only discovered this absurdity after downloading the IHRN App. I then reached out to Samsung and spent over 2 hours with customer support to request a return with the final resolution being that someone from their Developer Team will get back to me in 2 - 3 business days. I'm still waiting.
