Although we haven't had a chance to try out the heater feature (summer), we have used the fan in various rooms/settings for cooling, and it works very well.
Thumbs up, as usual, for the design (functional and aesthetic). The build quality is also good.
The size is just right (not to big not to small) and it moves a good amount of air. General fan features such as tilt, rotation, etc work as you would expect.
The lack of exposed fan blades is the obvious draw, making this a very good choice for someone with small children, and not solely for the reasons you would expect... I had a great conversation with my 8 year old son about how the fan worked without exposed fan blades.
The airflow dispersion setting is surprisingly useful as well, switching between a very focused "beam" of air to a more general flow. I assumed this would be a gimmick at first, but we have actually made good use of this feature.
As always, there is room for improvement. For me, the remote layout was not immediately intuitive , and you'd think it would be for a fan... Obviously not a big deal, it was easy to figure out by playing a bit.
Overall, we are happy with the AM09, and plan to get good use out of it. I gave the unit 4 stars due to cost, otherwise, it is a 5 star item.

I just received my new AM09. I love the sleek design. Out of the box, it's very easy to set up. Well packaged, with high quality packing materials. Easy to read user manual. Simple, intuitive remote control. As a fan, it's very quiet on low to moderate fan levels. A little noisier on max, but quieter than my box fan. Narrow and wide air flow options are cool, and oscillation makes it even better. For the heat option, I was impressed at how quickly the heat started coming out. I'm waiting for cool weather to give the heat option a real trial, but I have a feeling this unit is going to beat the heck out of other space heaters I have or have used in the past. Overall, I'm very impressed with this unit.

I received the Dyson AM09 by FedEx shipping. Unit was packed very nice. The only assembly was to take the round base plate and twist it onto the bottom of the main unit. Very easy. I had the unit running within 5 minutes of unpacking.
My family/breakfast room has 20 ft ceilings in one section. Hard to cool during the 90-95 degree weather we have been experiencing. So, I set the AM09 on a small stand adjacent to an in floor air conditioning vent. I wanted to capture the cool air as it came out of the floor and redistribute it across the room. Boy, this unit did great. I could not believe how much air this little unit could push. Sitting approx. 15 feet from the unit, I could easily feel the cool air flowing by me. This was on a "5" setting on the unit. The settings were from 0 - 10. My wife commented on just how much air it was pushing.
A real plus for this unit is it that is operated by a small remote control. You can use it to turn the unit on/off, select heat or cool, set a self shut-off timer, and adjust the volume of air. It can also be set to rotate, which I use when the unit is running. I really like the time (up to 9 hours) as we can set the unit to go off just after we go to bed. With our other fan we were using, we sometimes went to bed and left it running all night.
I also tested the heat output, even though it is summer. The heat was very noticeably warm and I fully expect that the heat function will get a lot of use during our winter months, especially with our high ceilings.
I had seen these units on the tv shopping channels and had wondered about their efficiency. Well, they work. That is the best thing you can say about something you buy. I thought they were a bit pricey on the tv, but I do believe after testing this unit, I would purchase it.
All in all, a great Dyson Product which I would recommend for someone needing a cooling and or heating fan.

Wow what a cool product the A09 fan and heater is. Cool or warm whichever you need. The fan works well at moving the air where you want it. I live in the Dallas area and it was 104F today so this fan helps to keep the air moving in the room farthest from A/C unit in my home. I love the fact that all the assembly was put the base on and go. The remote works well and the unit is excellent at moving air on one area of the room., or throughout. When the grandkids are over I will not have to worry about fan blades harming them.Big thumbs up on this gem . I am looking forward to trying out the heater with the temperature control but that will have to wait till fall.

We had the opportunity to test the new AM09 fan/heater, and we absolutely love it. Besides the fact that no fan blades means it's so easy to keep it clean, we enjoy some of the features on this fan. We use the diffuser function if only one of us wants the fan directed towards them, but not the other, while it can continue to oscillate in a smaller radius. We also like the fact that we can easily switch between heat and cool, which we have done often on winter nights. The tilt feature makes it more versatile, depending on where you need to place it.
We have several Dyson products, and I can't get over the quality of their products. We have an original Animal vacuum, which we purchased in late 2007, and it works as well today as the day we brought it home. Thank you Dyson for making such quality products.

The day of my daughters baptism the A/C went out. We turned on the AM09 and set it to cool and it was able to take the room from 90+ degrees to a comfortable level with 30+ people in the room. It's not an A/C so it didn't get it down to room temp but it did a lot better than a conventional fan. It was easy to put together and easy to use.

This fan/heater is amazingly useful. What's neat is that it's so small. In fact, I was concerned because I thought it's small size would mean that it had limited usefulness. However, it's surprisingly powerful. There are two features that I really like. One is the Jet Focus feature, which focuses the airflow in a narrow range. The other is the tilt feature. I thought I'd never use this feature, but I've found that I use it to tilt up or down depending on where I place the device. I'd recommend this product without reservations.

I will start by saying this item is fantastic. I received this Fan and I was able to put it together in 5 minuets. The instructions are written so well that anyone can understand how to work it immediately. It has a remote control (which attaches to the top) so we can reach it from anyware in the room. I love that you can set the cool or heat at the temperature you would like, and with the timmer you can set it to turn off when you want. It immediately cooled and Heated the room. It also osillates so the entire room gets the soft breeze. The Heat is the same. There is no sound from this machine so you can use it anyware, my family all attend college so they are always studying, this is perfect, our house tends to need quiet. I have used Dyson products for the last 7 years they have never dissapointed, and this fan is no different.
I highley reccomend this Fan, it comes in 3 different colors so you can chose a color thats right for your decore.
