I love this fan and it's versatility. Visually this doesn't even look like a fan, which makes it interesting to look at. I can tell a lot of time and research has went into making this product. When touching the fan, it doesn't feel cheap. It feels like a well put together product. For it's size and the fact it has no fan blades, I'm amazed at how much air this puts out. It has 2 modes in which it moves the air. It has a focused mode and a mode where it spreads the air out over a wider area. I feel this product is safe, even in heating mode. When the product is turned on it's side, it turns off automatically. i feel that if my cat were to knock it off the stand, i wouldn't have any issues. The remote is easy to use and can be used at a good distance away. I've had friends and family make compliments to the fan. It's almost like a talking piece, art in the form of a fan. This would make a great gift for anyone who needs a fan or a space heater. I use a space heater in the winter. Since this product is versatile with warm and cold air, it replaces 2 products for one. I would recommend to anyone.
My husband and I are both addicted to this Fan Heater for different reasons. I love the cool air that it delivers in our hot Tennessee summer and avoids turning the air conditioner lower. My husband loves it because it will warm him up quickly (he does not have any fat on his body and the cold airconditioned air bothers him tremendously). This fan has done wonders for us being able to live together in the same house in the summer.
It is a great Dyson product and converts from heat to air quickly and conveniently. It also is very easy to move from one room to another.
This is the coolest fan I've ever owned. The fact that it doubles as a heater only makes it that much better. The black and nickel finish is very sleek. The output of cool/warm air is strong but not overpowering. It's nice to not have that buzzing sound and clicking of oscillating also. I do like to sleep with a fan for noise but this fan wouldn't work because it doesn't make enough noise until its setting of 10. That's a bit too much wind for me but I do like this for the living room. The magnetic spot at the top for the remote is also very cool. Now there's no losing or misplacing of the remote. The heater is nice and I look forward to using that this winter. It does take a minute to calibrate and makes a funny noise but as soon as that is done the heat comes pouring out. The one and only drawback I see is the price.
This review is for the Cool function only. Since it's summer, I haven't had a chance to run the heater. Full disclosure - I received this as a free product to review.
The "Cool" fan is a bit of a misnomer. It doesn't cool the air, but blows room temperature air.
As expected with Dyson products, this is a very well-designed fan.
Pros: 1. Fairly quiet. You only hear the air circulation sounds. No other "clicking" noises when rotating. 2. Remote with timer function. Great for night time. I set it to turn off after I fall asleep. 3. Compact, light weight, yet stable. Unless you tilt it pass 45 degrees, it will right itself, and not tip over. 4. Having young kids, I really appreciate the absence of blades.
Cons: 1. This is a small fan. Probably not sufficient for a large room. 2. Feels a little short as a fan. It's too low when placed on the ground. Probably not an issue when used as a heater, since heat rises. 3. Pricey.
The AM09 is very stylish, and has a "wow" factor. If you are a fan of Dyson products, and are willing to pay more for a superior designed product, then you will like this fan.

I was pleased to be able to review the AM09 Hot + Cool Fan.
When it arrived I was a little worried. I know that Dyson prides itself on minimal packaging but the box was in a clear wrap which might make it easier for someone in your neighborhood to take it off your step as a door prize before you even open the box.
The setup was easy. From out of the box to up and running takes less than five minutes. The fan would be able to work on top or under a table or in the corner or center of the room.
The duality of having a fan and heater built into one is smart. The fan can cool a smaller area rather quickly and you have choices whether you want the fan to move or just focus on cooling or heating a personal or larger area on multiple speeds.
What's nice about about the fan is the nifty remote which attaches itself to the top of the fan via magnets. The remote allows you to control the heat or cool in multiple settings and allows the fan to move from side to side.
Because Dyson does not have blades this is a family and pet friendly fan. It was also easy to clean and if you needed to store it somewhere it could easily fit in a closet and not in a large awkward space like most fans.
This fan would be a perfect fit for a college student, a person living in a small space such as an apartment, office space, or an individual small room.
In looking at the retail for this fan, it is a little spendy. For a few hundred dollars more you could easily buy a portable air conditioner or for much less you could purchase a space heater. That said having the hot and cool fan option built into one makes it a purchase your friends will envy.

As a proud owner of a DC07 vacuum, and then down the road a DC50 version, I have had nothing but great experiences with new products rolled out by Dyson. Now as an owner of an AM09 Hot and Cool Fan, I get to enjoy all new experiences. The unit was neatly packaged on the inside, with there being the main unit, the base, a remote, and instructions/warranty information. A feature of Dyson is even with simple instructions, a phone number is included with someone there to assist you if you need any help with construction/operation. Setup was a breeze, simply attaching the base to the unit, and plugging it in. The AM09 is quite small in size, lightweight, and looks really nice. I was surprised by how quiet it is, even toward the high speed setting. Obviously wind noise will be present and that's the main source of the noise. It has settings from 1-10 for speed, in both hot and cool mode. The unit tilts 10 degrees to better direct airflow, and it'll stay tilted while oscillating. I tested the tip over shut off safety function and it works well. I consider this feature a necessity really, especially with children and pets in the house. The sleep timer is a handy touch. The fit and finish and overall build quality is top notch. While using the heating function, it got my living room warm rather quickly, and for a larger room this thing excels. It'll put out a lot of heat quickly; up to 99 degrees Fahrenheit, and the airflow can be focused in a narrow band or a wider swath. Indeed, even in cool fan mode (32 degrees Fahrenheit) the airflow can be alternated between narrow and wide streams. To me, it sounded like the wide steam made a little more noise, not much more, but a little more than the focused stream. Dyson products are more expensive then their competitors, but great, well thought-out products cost more.
Pros: Gorgeous in appearance Well made Cools and heats Good materials Easy to operate Well-written directions Silent operation (not counting wind noise) Handy remote Remote attaches to fan using magnets Silent oscillation function Oscillation can be stopped at any position Small footprint Wide or narrow breeze setting Easy to change remote battery Timer can be used in fan or heat modes 6 foot heavy duty two prong cord Safe for children Surface does not get too hot during heat setting Year round use
Cons: Expensive (Can you place a price on machines that are innovative and have great aesthetic and practical design?)
My opinion, bottom line, is this unit is a definite buy that all should own in a home. It's not only a fan, but it serves as almost a piece of art that would definitely be a conversation starter by any guests that come over!
We previously purchased a AM04 which was a total upgrade to a heater of a different brand. The AM09 has many similarities to the AM04, but we really enjoy the focused/ diffused mode settings. This unit is also quieter than the AM04, which was much appreciated as well.
