First unit glass shattered after less than one month of use. Replacement unit glass shattered during the initial seasoning and was never able to use it.
I was sceptical as to how good this would be but it is fantastic. Brilliant tasting pizzas cooked to perfection in 90 seconds on my kitchen counter. A real game changer from the frozen pizza we were buying before. The one thing I would recommend is buying 2 peels so you can be preparing another pizza while 1 is cooking. Friday night is now pizza night.
Great product. Doesn’t take an unreasonable amount of time to preheat. But cook is excellent. I have the Ooni Karu 2 and previously Karu 1, it cooks to almost the same results without the need to keep topping wood. End result was a nice crispy base and nice charring around the crust. It has a much smaller footprint than expected and sits nicely in the corner of my kitchen. Great design, looks very professional. Looking for to trying other ideas in the oven.
Coming from the original Ooni Volt, which I had no issues with, the Volt 2 appears to overheat the stone during preheating. This can result in the first one or two pizzas developing an overly charred base.
Other users have suggested that the supplied stone is part of the issue and have reported significantly better results with third party alternatives. However, I’m reluctant to go down that route, as using a non-approved stone could potentially invalidate the warranty.
Aside from that, the Volt 2 produces pizzas that are noticeably closer to a traditional Neapolitan style than the original Volt. Crust rise is improved throughout, and the leoparding is much more consistent and pronounced.
My final criticism is that, for an indoor oven, the underside becomes extremely hot during use. The heat transferred to the work surface can make some countertops uncomfortably warm. It would be good to see Ooni offer an approved heat mat or similar accessory to provide additional protection for sensitive surfaces.
It does make great pizza but in 2 months of having the machine we are on our 3rd stone and have had to replace the whole machine because the fan stopped working. While making pizza last week the door glass shattered- maybe we have just been unlucky but I have asked the retailer for a refund now
Love it. First pizza always burns on the bottom if you start too high but then crank it for the rest. No turning, no fuss, no problems with the wind or rain. You have to open windows but you get pizza that tastes basically like a wood fired oven. The timer control is clunky but you can at least clearly see through the front glass.
As an Ex professional Boulanger (baker) I can say that for I am impressed with the quality of the oven. I would add that I would like to see the inside height of the oven to be a bit bigger. Why? Well as I said I was in the bread baking business, and so I'd like to see the ooni oven being a bit more multi functional. Add a steam option along with that, and then you could bake some decent pain au levain/baguettes and some brioche.
