Stay Away from Roku...

Their equipment is crap and is guaranteed to have issues. When you contact customer support to try and get assistance all they will do is blame all of your other equipment including your TV, reciever, router & modem. Doesn't matter to them that the issues will happen when thousands of miles from home when in a hotel, they will still won't admit any issues or even do anything about it. My recommendation is to use any streaming device BUT roku. All 3 of my devices are going in the garbage where they belong!!
I've had this for quite a while and there are some bugs. Every couple weeks I'll get a no signal detected or the HDMI error. HDMI cable is on the higher end and connected to a Sony OLED. Don't get that with other devices using an identical cable. Sometimes unplugging the cable works but most of the time have to unplug the Roku. I upgraded my mesh system so I tried the ethernet connection. Much to my surprise, I had a faster connection speed using wireless than ethernet.
We have been ROKU users since 2013. Most of our ROKU's have been sticks the past five years. Recently decided to try another box and it has had issues. A red screen appears when going from tile to tile in Youtube as well as from movie to movie within some of the apps. There is also a speaker hum that occurs going from episode to episode in some of the apps. Nothing that has been tried has worked. A repair tech was out last week who suggested replacing the mother board on the tv. That did not address the issue either. The last few days we used the built in apps on the tv and found that there was no red screen and no hum. Makes me think it is the ROKU. Have ordered a new cable to see if that is the problem. Will try that as a last resort before ordering another stick. Disappointing when the box costs 2x as much as the stick.

The Home screen shows ads on the left, below the menu. When you move to the channel list, the screen shifts left and now the right half of the screen shows ads. None of the marketing shows this. And in October 2023, Roku made changes to the Home screen that added a NEW row of icons to the top of Home, advertising channels. You cannot remove these or move them from the top. Very bad practice, shoving even more ads into a device I own, months after purchase. Do not buy.
Regarding current gen models (Ultra 4802, as well as Express 4K+ 3941): image quality is poor compared to comparable streaming players (Apple TV, Nvidia Shield), built-in smart TV apps, and even previous gen Roku players.
Streaming content *AND* even Roku menus and base-level app functions (e.g. Netflix splash screen) look like upscaled 720p/1080i rather than 4K.
Tested with multiple TVs (including LG G3-series OLED and Samsung QN90-series QLED), multiple locations, multiple service providers, multiple network stacks.
TV requires two remotes because roku can't access TV settings. Can control power and volume, so just add the timer to roku, turn off the TV, then turn off the roku ultra.
It can get all the streaming channels and the remote can control volume and TV power. Bought for a smart TV that has a faulty wireless card.
It cannot access the tvs settings or sleep timer and it does not have a sleep timer function.
This issue has been complained about for over 3 years with no update. Some companies never listen to their customers. I'll be steering away for future TV purchases so that I only ever require 1 remote.
