There is a known issue with interpreting the colorspace flag in an MKV container that causes crazy colors in these apps. Roku refuses to fix this. Search the community forum for more info.

ROKU Ultra

We have a number of ROKU Ultra units and are advocates of the streaming device. The newest available model with the addition of the rechargeable remote-control addition was a very good update, coupled to any of the internal component upgrades. The ONLY issue for us is the lack of an "optical" output for multi-channel audio, which was removed many model versions ago, is still a disappointment. Yes, we know multi-channel audio is output via HDMI, but not all very good but older AV Receivers have HDMI inputs. The purchase of an aftermarket HDMI to OPTICAL converter box becomes necessary anyway. We see the model branding as "ULTRA", it should have both HDMI and OPTICAL. And yes, COG's will increase a little, but the ULTRA buyer can handle a reasonable increase is the pricing for the ULTRA model. Also, NOT being forced to purchase the converter box is more than what the price increase would be for adding the optical output back into the ULTRA model. Please consider. The fifth star overall rating would then be fully justified.

keeps cutting off something about hdmi we have to go out of roku then back in and the picture comes back

The AirPlay doesn’t work properly gets disconnected fairly frequently.
Controlling the volume from the Roku remote does not work properly once pressed very often, the volume goes all the way up to maximum and not in incrementally

Better than TV Apps

I have used Roku for years. I recently upgraded to Sony Bravia OLED tv with expectation I’d download the apps onto the tv. The tv based apps were clunky and did not perform up to my expectations with such an expensive tv. I went back with new Roku and am Totally satisfied.
I would recommend this to a friend!
