I brought a Sony Tv that had google tv. It was so frustrating to watch the programing. They kept buffering and some would not load. After purchasing this Roku product I had no trouble at all. Coupled with the HDMI Sony picture quality it's all fantastic.

Definitely faster than other Roku streaming players we've had. Also like the lighted and rechargeable remote.

New Roku

I was looking to upgrade my older Roku and found a good deal on the Roku website which made it an easier choice.
One of the biggest selling points to me was the rechargeable control which makes it easier overall to keep using the Roku.

Remote turns on the TV but not the Roku
on May 5, 2025
Posted by: Scott in Florida
I own an earlier version of the Roku that works fine, but the ultra does not turn on with the remote. I have to unplug and plug it in every single time even though the TV turns on. Plus the ultra turns off on its own if it sits for a while. I have checked and I am on the current software version. It’s very frustrating.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi Scott, thanks for sharing. You don't need to turn on your Roku Ultra 2024 every time. It stays on in low-power standby when not streaming. Press the Home button on your remote to wake it up. The sudden turn-off may be due to Bandwidth Saver, which prevents exceeding data limits by stopping streaming after four hours of inactivity. You can choose to "Keep streaming" or let playback stop. Frequent remote or app interaction won't trigger the inactivity prompt. You can refer to this link to learn more at https://support.roku.com/article/360037927713. Thanks, and Happy Streaming!

Very fast Roku and it works better than our old one we had for years. The controller also lights up the button when you pick it up. Nice touch to the controller. Highly recommend.

Quick Smart TV Upgrade
on May 5, 2025

My new ROKU adds a faster processor and new channels to my older flat screen TV. The software is easy to use and enjoy! It is much simpler and consistent than the software built into the TV, plus the remote adds voice control.

Great easy to use device

The ultra is a great easy to use device. The only reason that I did not give it 5 stars is the inability to independently program the remote to work directly with my soundbar.

Great streamer

I love this Roku ultra, it’s sleek and can be hidden. The voice remote and phone app integration is perfect. Had a couple instances of it freezing, restarted everything and it was fine. I think this was due to the YouTube app, which seems to be a YouTube programming problem because it does it everywhere I go. It automatically updates the hdr through my tv with no problem. Although if you have wireless speakers, aside from hooking them up via blue tooth as it’s called headphones in settings(????) why not have speaker integration that isn’t just a Roku wireless speaker is beyond me. That’s my one mark down, soundbar integration is not simple or easy. HDMIearc does work.
But it’s still great, so responsive and so crisp. And I love the backgrounds you can choose and screen savers. Very cool.
