Dock seems to only work correctly when the XPS-13 9300 is also connected to its own 45W PSU or if an USB type-A to type-C cable is used in combination with the Dell provided DBQBJBC054 (effectively running on battery power only).
If the XPS-13 is purely connected to the dock, it keeps reconnecting over and over. It does so with and without displays connected to the dock.
Dock is updated with firmware version 1.12.9_10.11 and labled 'rev 3' on its bottom-side. PSU is rated at 20V 6A and the frimware tool is reporting 60W max power.

It's important to us that our customers have a positive experience with our products and we're sorry to hear about the difficulties you're having using our DK30CH2DPPD with your Dell laptop. Some computers have difficulties using power delivery with third-party docks by default and you may be able to find a setting in the laptop's BIOS to allow third-party docks. We'd be happy to help look into this if you require any assistance. You can contact us at www.startech.com/support where our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to provide support.
This does not work with respect to supporting a third display
Response from startech.comBy Matt, Customer Support, February 25, 2020
We apologize for the difficulties you're seeing when using our DK30CH2DPPD. This dock does support three displays with two DisplayPort displays connecting through a DisplayLink USB to video chipset and one HDMI port connecting directly through USB-C DP-Alt (DisplayPort Alternative) mode. If your laptop doesn't support DP-Alt video output, then the HDMI port on the dock can't provide video as it's not receiving video from your laptop. We'd be happy to look into this with you and help get this working if your laptop does output video, or help you find a different option if your laptop does not. If you require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at startech.com/support where our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to provide support.
The HDMI connection works as expected! Unfortunately, the Display Port connections do not work. The PC does not recognize any other monitors.

We apologize for the difficulties you're experiencing with our DK30CH2DPPD. The HDMI port on this dock uses DP-Alt (DisplayPort Alternative) mode when connected to USB-C so it should work right away, but the DisplayPorts on the dock may require drivers as they use a DisplayLink driver to convert from USB to video. We're reaching out to you directly to provide assistance but if you have any questions in the mean-time, please do not hesitate to contact us at www.startech.com/support where our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week to provide assistance.
I have a Dell 7730 laptop that I purchased the 100w docking station for so I can slow charge the laptop and enjoy Three 4k monitors. The dock does not charge the PC, I get an error saying its not compatible with the system when I plug it into the USB-C port.(USB-C charging works with other dell docks) Also the dock will not support my HDMI to display-port cable at full resolution but I had an extra DP to mini DP cable that worked fine and gave me full resolution on all three monitors. Hopefully the USB ports don't flake out when undocking and redocking PC like the Dell WD19 models

We apologize for the difficulties you're experiencing with our DK30CH2DPPD. This dock should be compatible with any computer that supports power delivery but some manufacturers disable third-party docks by default. The Dell 7730 comes with a 240W power adapter so it may have difficulties utilizing a third-party dock that only provides 100W. However, you may be able to change settings in the computer BIOS to allow third-party docks like our DK30CH2DPPD. If you require any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at www.startech.com/support. Our Technical Advisors are available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week and we'd be happy to help look into this further with you.
This has been a great dock, driving 3 monitors at 4K resolution with no issues. However, I wanted to get a longer USB-C cable due to space on the desk. I ordered what I thought was a quality cable online, but only two monitors work through it. Switching the original cable back in works fine. Are then minimum cable specs I can look for to find another?

Hello Dave,
Thank you for sharing your review of our DK30CH2DPPD. If the monitor that stopped working when you swapped cables was the HDMI port on the dock, then the cable you purchased may not support video. Our longest cable with video and power support is our USB315CC2M at 2m (6.6') long.
Had this dock for a while and I like almost everything about it. Right after I got it, Apple broke DisplayLink, but that was fixed eventually.
But, right from the beginning, my MacBook Pro would hiss when it was connected to the dock. Internal speakers or external.
it's related to the USB-C connection between the dock and the laptop though. As soon as I plug in the regular Apple USB-C charger, while leaving the dock connected at well, the hissing starts.
Not a huge deal, but it would be nice not to have to plug in two USB-C cables (one to dock and one to stop the hissing).

We're sorry to hear about the hissing sound that you're experiencing when our DK30CH2DPPD is connected. If you connect the dock to the MacBook using the Apple USB-C charging cable instead of the cable that came with the dock, does it still hiss? We'd like to look into this further with you and are reaching out using the email address provided.
